heh, and so do you have a valid point. Especialy as far as skill goes, I think being able to drive a car requires more skill then being able to make the wheels turn absolutely. And in no way was I directing any ill-thought or murderous aspirations at your direction. And I hope from all of this that the young fella will do the smart thing and find a legal burnout pad, and if that isn't possible, then go out into the country where he can't damage anyone but himself. But, I do think it's a little hasty to assume that he is gonna do it on the local roads hehe. Mind you if I owned your Dodge, I'd be building my own public burnout pad, and if I was the local police/council, I'd be trying to manufacture a local burnout pad to keep the rage off the streets.

That's why Brisbane is soooo good, you've got Archerfield and Willowbank (Ipswich) /Queensland Raceway right at your backdoor. Every town that has hoons, must realize that it's because the town is boring for young folk who socialy get off in their cars, and manufacture a public place where they can do their evil things.

Just my oppinion, having grown up a policeman's (36 years service) son, I hold the police with very high respect. But I will acknowledge, that sometimes, they are very hypocritical, (Qld anyhow). It's mainly the young ones, but the comment about someone finding burnouts beautiful being flamed, even in gest about his partner. That's just uncalled for. And I think he should get some viagra eye drops and have a good hard look at himself for one, and secondly pull his head in.

no offence intended to you at all Plonky, sorry if I gave the impression of it.

Take the in jest comments the way they are intended and dont assume vicarious anger for someone else who obviously wasnt offended. Spend a bit of time investigating accidents and you will realise that involuntary loss of control is right up there with the primary causes. Most if not all burnouts involve a voluntary loss of control (not talking about pros like MYERS, talking about the average fool at the lights). If its done at a legal burnout pad then go your hardest, its your car, your money, and your tyres.

As this guy's from Perth it would be safe to assume that he's gonna do it on a street. When you have investigated a prang where 5 people went to hospital after a car lost control and ploughed into a crowd at a set of lights (while doing a burnout) then you would be able to comment on the validity of them being dangerous or not.

I am impressed with Supercar drivers doing their thing in a controlled environment where the only people they can hurt is themselves or other willing participants. Their skill, fitness, reaction times etc is absolutely awesome. Same with guys like MYERS. I think burnouts are ridiculous, full stop, but I respect the ability and professionalism he displays when its done in, again, a controlled environment. You dont see AMBROSE hitting 240 down the highway just cause he can, or MYERS smoking it up at the lights. They leave their performances where they should be.

Its people who arent pros trying to replicate these conditions on public streets that people like myself, Plonky and the vast majority of the public have issues with. What people do in the privacy of their own homes, or in controlled consenting environments is their business, each to their own.

If the guy wants to do burnouts on a 'pad', or in the middle of a property then go right ahead. Opinions are like bum holes, everyones got one. Perhaps you should accept that others have the right to an opinion rather than sticking little smiley fingers up or suggesting others should take Viagra eye drops or pull their heads in. Very easy to be tough on the end of a computer 2000kms away.

I disagree with your opinion but respect it. If we didnt have differences it would be a very boring world. Perhaps you should treat the opinion of others in a similiar fashion. I will disagree with people 24hrs a day, but I wont resort to immature personal jibes and attacks. If the comment regarding the beauty of burnouts was taken the wrong way then I apologise to Pizza Sleek. Being as he (or she) hasnt gotten back to me I can only assume that it was taken in jest.

Im not old enough to drive anyway and I would never do it anywhere I was annoying anyone or putting someone's safety at risk ;) Some hoon was doing them a few weeks ago in our suburb during the nite, span out of control and nearly hit a family taking a walk so I know all too good how dangerous it is and I would never be that stupid B)

well, you have just demonstrated that. Obviously, you haven't participated in controlled sporting events, or you would know that they aren't done at a set of lights with a crowd anywhere near harms way. I respect your oppinions, but as far as not taking offence, I think he wouldn't say if he did or not. Ambrose hitting 240 because he can.... bwhahahaha, sif he would when he's able to do it on the track  The 5 car prang you describe has a very valid point, but not in this area because, people who do them on legal tracks, aren't in any real danger. They have protection provided for the crowd.

"Perhaps you should accept that others have the right to an opinion" Yes indeed you should  , it isn't safe to assume anything, as assumption is the mother of all f@#kups, and that has just been deomonstrated by you. Just because the word "burnout" pops up, you have to go and ASSUME that it's done illegaly. And as said, pull your head in. Save your preaching for the police column of the local paper. The people of this forum are decent law abiding citizens and I think, are responsible and deserve the respect desired by anybody.

Keep your oppinions and I'll keep mine. 2000k's away to be tough? no violence intended at this end, I see that isn't the case at your end. Well, this further proves my point. Not everything arises into fisticuffs You think your tough, because you wear a blue uniform? pfft

I would respond but it will just end (again !!) in misquotes, personal invective and the golden oldies for coppers like 'You think your tough, because you wear a blue uniform'.

Like a wise old Sergeant once told me, better to keep quiet and let people think you're stupid rather than open your mouth and confirm it'. I'll let people think I am for a while, you just keep talking.

The real interesting thing is when you have a car on full noise going into a tight corner and holding the fastest mid corner speed that you dare!

ahhhh, yes, that is the best, burnouts are well burnouts, they are fun for a while. Going around a corner at the fastest speed possible without loosing grip of the road is the best feeling, I have a few that I regularly drive through on the way to work and back. The feeling for those few seconds as you aproach the turn you try to look as far ahead as possible to judge the right speed as well as seeing if the road will hold you as you go round the turn, then in the turn you listen to and feel the car as much as possible to get an idea of whats going on outside the car to let you know wether to give it some more or to ease off a bit, then sometimes you may just give it too much and you're starting to go out of control, you're reflects tell you to slow down but you know that if you even touch the brake you'll loose it completely so you take you're foot off and use the steering wheel to help the tyres pick up the road again then you feel the car pull you from right to left as it picks up traction again. Your heart is pumping and you think YEAH! then look at the speedo and think back to find you're mistakes. I only do this when and if it is safe to do so.

Guys been reading this post the past day or so. I personally think its come down the level again of us vs them. This to me is extremely childish and needs to stop.

The bottom line is respect each other's opinion, and leave it at that.

Further to some comments regarding burnouts, speeding and anything else illegal. The sad and unfortunate thing is that the majority of the time it is done on the streets. I have been guilty of it in the past myself.

So in these circumstances I would say it is safe to assume that the talk of speeding, burnouts, drag racing and the like is done on the streets.

Lets not turn this thread into a personal bashing against each other, or each other's profession.
