It's only natural for kids to be sheep. To have the same interests as their peers, to fit in.Unfortunately the trend has been 'Holden'. Not based on any knowledge on the product, but merely their success in motorsport, superior marketing, and dickhead Expensive Daewoo fathers brainwashing their poor children.I went through school as the only Ford supporter. Now I go to work as the only Ford supporter. And I love it.What amuses me though, is that I know more about Holden's product, then these so called Expensive Daewoo supporters that I work with. It's a shame though. I can't have a decent Expensive Daewoo V Ford debate with anyone because they have to resort to childish slanging, because they know nothing about either product. Oh well. Posted 10/10/03 03:05 PM Share Posted 10/10/03 03:05 PM That wasn't so bad was it?But seriously....There has always been competition between the major car makers, and with the recent availability of imports, the younger generations seem to be going for the imported vehicles aka Ricers. Only because they are cheaper and have a larger range of mods available from the Japanese and asian markets. The front wheel drive and smaller hatches are a lot cheaper to mod than the larger cars. I know very little except what I am reading and learning via this site about mods to larger cars. But doing a cold air induction to a naturally aspirated front wheel drive vehicle costs bugger all aka some ag pipe and some time. Then you throw on a K&N filter and badabing badaboom you got some immediate increases just by changing your airflow to your motor from warm to cooler air. As soon as you get cool air to your motor, you can feel it breathing better, then you can get a cheap catback exhaust for maybe $300 depending again on car and you have got maybe 10-20kw's if the guys knew what they were doing. Then you put a sticker on the windscreen and some fully sik neons inside for another $30-$40 and moite.......It is phat!!!!Isn't that right ladies n fella's, just like Habib in Pizza right? So basically, the four cylinder fast hackers are cheaper and easier to mod.As soon as you lower it and put some big shocking chromies on there you have the look. Do maybe $400 total in basic mods and you got something a bit growly that sounds the part. Then get your doof doof happening, make sure you get the sub or else it isn't phat, it's all ghey......It's too easy to get into the Ricer stuff, and cheap. That is the only reason your mates are giving you sh*t!Stick with the Ford. She will outlast the ricers anyday!Good luck!

Firstly, the reason why being a Ford fan is being part of a minority is being some dumb *beep* at Ford back in the '80's decided to kill off the V8 engine. This was the dumbest thing anyone could have done!!! It is like leaving lead in fuel....lead has inhibited engine development because engineers have not had to redesign engines to accomodate lead free fuel. The same thing happened with Ford. The V8 used too much fuel so instead of making it more efficient and marketing it successfully, it was easier to bend to the soft core of money counters and axe the V8 in the anticipation that the consumer would flock to the six cylinder engine.Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! No wonder Expensive Daewoo have the youth market all wrapped up!As far as the 4cyl ricer junk, the rice movement started in the US in the ethnic minority areas that were heavily populated with Hispanic and Asians. The 4cyl ricer stuff was a direct protest against the American (white) V8 muscle car scene. The minorities were actually discriminating against the white majority by initiating a sub culture exclusive to themselves. This carried over to Australia where the majority of ricers in the 'fulsik' fast four with a bodykit are of ethnic origin. It is a direct protest against the V8 car culture that has been strong in Australia since the '50's.For any of you that think that I am being racist in this observation, how about you do your own research and foind out where the 'rice' subculture originated and the reasons why. I've done it and the reasons are in there in the words of one of it's founders...an Hispanic that wanted something different from mainstream Americans.Further, with the influx of Jap imports, the whole culture of car modification has changed. No longer does it require a bit of mechanical knowledge and ingenuity, now it is a case of the 'bolt on' brigade buying off the shelf products which can be installed without taking the engine apart. This increases horsepower )in some cases) and noise (in most cases)It is very naive to suggest that a two valve pushrod operated valvetrain is prehistoric when regardless of the type of valve gear, efficiency is created by the amount of airflow at certain RPM.If DOHC is the most efficient, I would specualate that Top Fuel Dragsters would use BMW V10's instead of big cube supercharged Chrysler Hemi's to blast the quarter in the high 3 second mark.It boils down to horses for courses.... a V10 BMW in an F1 car and a Supercharged Hemi in a Rail. Yes, although buddy, take a glance around Lavarack and you'll see that there are actualy more Ford supporters coming out of the woodwork now. 1RAR, 4FD REGT, 2 RAR and even 3/4 Cav have some impressive machines kicking round. There's plenty of 2 door Falcons and god bless those beautiful fat bottomed girls. What you say is true, Ask a Expensive Daewoo supporter about the commonwhore, and I'll be you can tell he's a dickhead just by looking at him. One doesn't even need to listen.

What is wrong with todays youth? It seems that I am the only young person that likes fords because I don't want to be a sheep like all the rest of them! Did young people back in the 70's like fords or has this trend been going on forever? Its not only todays youth!! I remember when I was a youngster at high school (although it was very hard to remeber back that far) everyone was supporting holdens. All my school mates grew up and bought holdens. I have never wanted to be a "sheep" so I did not mind being a ford supporter and in those days Alan Moffat was doing OK on the track. I have continued my desire to not follow everyone else so when I got my T went for the Citric Acid colour did not want to conform and go down the HGAG, Blueprint sheep trail lolz. I had better go and duck for cover now!!

They're just turning, due to our recent success in the V8s, and the success of the BA.A true Ford supporter has never, and will never support Holden. They have, and will always stand by the Ford logo. Through hard times and good. Through thick and thin. B) But damn, how many VS/VR utes are there on Lavarack?? Every second car! Geeezus. (Ok, a bit exagerated, but there are heaps of em )And please, a stock VR Maloo does not have a hope of keeping up with me, so give it up!!
