I think ive had the same problem in reverse and also in 1st. Happened when I needed to move the car very quickly with it switched off. Almost felt to me like the handbrake had stuck on and was causing friction back through the drivetrain.

I just took my car in for its 3000km service today... I asked the dude at the service center and he said because everything is electronic its just the computer adjusting it self to certain parameters. So I dont know if he was just Bull sh*ting me or if that is what is really happening.

Yeah you gotta wonder how many customers questions they respond with this answer too. They may as well say 'shutup and stop asking questions, im the professional, not you.'

Well, now I'm a little more concerned.

I took the car out again this morning and it shuddered, which now means it's done it each time I've first started the car over the last few days (three times). Strangely, though, it only does it when I first start it in the morning. Hours later when I head home from work it doesn't do it. Just first thing in the morning.

Yeah but I mean turn your car on in the morning...let it run for like 30 sec then put in reverse...I found that it doesnt do it when I let it run for a bit....oh hold on, you mean the motor shudders when idle? I thought you mean when you put it in reverse and start moving backwards that it starts to shudder a little bit

No, it only does it when I turn the car on and go to reverse or move forward (depending on where I'm parked). It doesn't shudder on normal idle, though.

Either way, I'd be surprised that for a brand new performance car, I'd have to wait 30-seconds for the car to get a grip when I first turn it on.

I decided to be safe rather than sorry, so I've put the car in for a service early tomorrow morning. It'll be interesting what they say, and I'll be sure to let you folks know.

This is what I figured out when looking into it....put your tacho on fuel/100km (not average). I noticed that mine would only shudder in reverse if the fuel/100km was over 6.0 L/100km (on idle). Once it was under 6.0 L/100km(on idle) I would then put it in reverse. Shudder no more. Takes like 10sec to get it under 6.0 L/100km

Hi Guys,

Any update, same thing is happening to my 3 week old FG. Straight into reverse it surges/ shudders after a morning start. A blip of the throttle or back into neutral fixes it, im due for my 3K service next week. I will let you know what ford says.
