I have seen 3 brand new fg f6's 2 with exhaust and tune and one with just tune valve float with under 300kwatw when I worked at autotech the stock one valve floated std with no tune so there is a issue there with them wouldn't suprise me if ford has cut corners on valve spring quality.

My 2 cents worth

Cheers Neil

We pushed 370wkws from my G6 before the springs gave up, so up to 16psi was fine (370kw), on 20psi there was minor float on the dyno but massive valve bounce on the road.

So do them if your going to run high boost.

sweet,

Rapid what did you do to get 370?

Presuming the standard turbo gave up at around 320?

yeah we sqeezed 340ish from the stocker.

It has low mount GT4596R turbo, 50mm external wastegate, V2.0 intcooler/intake/bat swap kit, 3.5inch stainless exhaust, 60lb Siemens injs, twin 044 fuel system

Currently doing valve springs, head studs and loads more boost, tuning at Crescent Motorsport

hey all,

can anyone give me an insight into what valve float feels like, while hard driving?

I'm trying to diagnose a problem atm.

Cheers

valve float usually occurs at high rpm, with the valves floating the cylinder its occuring on becomes useless. and in effect makes the engine miss on that cylinder. engine vibrations, coughing, lack of wanting to rev all are associated with valve float. once it occurs usually it will continue to make the engine miss till you have brought it off boost.

its something that when it happens you know its not right.

what boost and kw are you running to get the valve float?

I was pushing 17psi and anymore than that it would float very bad. that was at 320rwkw and now am pushing 350rwkw on 11.5 psi with no float at all.
