On top of what the others have said, after washing, chamoising etc, I usually use meguirs (spelling?) detailing spray and wipe off with a microfibre cloth. I use a wax every 2 months or so and I find the spray helps in between wax's to keep it looking in showroom condition.

I've also found that using a small microfiber cloth (like you get with sunglasses) does a good job of getting the dash dust-free without having to use any chemicals, or those waste-of-many purpose cloths.

I must be doing something wrong because everytime I use the ol' newspaper and Windex method I end-up with little bits of newspaper all over my glass.

Anyone got a recommendation for tyre shine.. I get the sh*ts with crap going all over the car. I usually wipe the tyre down after spraying it but then they loose some of the shine.

try drying your car off with a towel instead, works perfect and doesnt leave streaks or damage paint. my f6 is black and it comes up a treat, and we all know what a pain in the ass black cars are to clean :)
