The goose that sold me my 20" argents put 255's on the back of my car (245's on the front) and the rim still sticks out a bit. They must be 9" wide? I'll take a pic if you're interested?

Hey mate, a pic would be great. I think theres a lot of confusion about rim size here. Aftermarket Dark Argent wheels are 9" wide. If oyu reckon 255 fit easily, maybe 265s will fit also without too much bulge. what do you reckon? Are you getitng sufficient trckion with your 255s? Just wondering if the extram 10 mm will make any difference in my case... Look forward to seeing your pics. Cheers, Darol.

Here's some pics of the back tyre n stuff... You can see the tyre sits nice and flush with the rim with 255's but my speedo is out :verysad:

Also, isn't 255mm 10 inches? Or am I clueless about tyres?

My memory wasn't failing me then, they are 9" wide. Ford don't make 20's which I was alluding to with the bolding earlier. You'd be crazy not to make a wider rim if you are going to copy them, since that's a huge complaint with turbo drivers striving for traction!

I've heard the widest you want on an 8" is 245, so another 2cm odd should fit safely on 9"?

I was positive you guys were wrong but I just went and measured my 19" Matt Black Fpv Copies and they're 9 inches wide!

I have looked at the wheels and thought they looked fat, especially from a distance, now I know why.

Even though I only have 245's on them they are still a lot fatter due to being stretched over 9 inch rims, I would've bought 275's for the rear if I had of known that.

I measured the genuine Dark Argents on my BF Typhoon a few years ago and they were 8.5 inches wide.

You need to measure the rims without the tyres as the thickness of the lip will make up the extra 1".

The standard FPV Argents are 19x8" and 245 are the widest safe tyres to fit.

This is taken from the www.fpv.com.au website:

FPV 19” x 8.0 Alloy wheel fitted with

245/35ZR19 Dunlop Sport Maxx tyre

Yeah, I only heard the twenty inch copies came in 9" wide. Is 275 the safest width to fit to a 9"?

275 will fit on a 9" rim no problem, but I think you'll find your rims aren't 9" wide mate. The copies only come in 20x8" & they have just released 20x9.5"...

Where are you measuring from? Outer edge to outer edge, or inner edge to inner edge?

I'd go with TOYO Proxes T1r's if your after grip, and don't worry about going wider as better quality tyres are what give extra grip
