Yup, I'd have to say that we of The Defence Force are subject to just as much as the local Police. Especialy when Iraq broke out, and EXARESIX could probably vouch for this, the usual "Baby Killer" protesters were there, and the people in shopping centres who throw assortments of garbage at you and call you everything under the son. When people ask me if I've been on operations, my answer is NO.

1) It ends any chance of a situation arising

2) My 2 tours of duty are my business, and why should they care?

3) I'm no baby killer and quite the opposite, and most of us shrug off all this behaviour towards, us, the whole "A.J" mentality. It is far better to wait until it's legaly self defence, and you can laugh at the poor fool(s) of whom you have put into a hospital bed for their violent sins apon one's self.

The really sad thing is that most of these crowds weren't even alive (as I wasn't) during Vietnam, and wouldn't know what a 3rd world country (all Asian countries) look like. I can understand what the police go through, because as a "coppers son", I went through it at school with less of a shelter, so one learns to fight quite well. When I see on television of people burning the Australian National Flag, I'm filled with rage at the "freedom of speech" crap. They burn something that generations of Australians have fought to protect and should recieve years in-prisonment for. They take their freedom for granted, and spit on Anzac Monuments. It all makes me sick. And yes, it's all laughed off.

Erm Chris, you don't keep guns in the house by any chance?

Seriously though add your comments to my post earlier, about sums it up, and I was in uniform during Vietnam.

Yeah I keep guns in my house, under lock and key, and the key is safer than in fort knox, in EID's bra, along with my passport, will & viagra pills. :D

heh, Guns are safe to be kept in the house. When old enough if children are educated and taught weapon saftey, then they aren't likley to want to play with them. It's the curiosity that kills the cat literaly.

But that's a pretty safe place to keep the keys hehehe.

VG and I sometimes honestly believe that our colleagues are the last ones in this great (but declining) country that share standards of civilised behaviour, respect and reward for effort.

to be able to chat with you guys!!!

Plonky,

Trust me, the largely silent majority are law abiding, respectful of others and are intelligent human beings as well as possessing the attributes you mention.

Unfortunately, the minority are just louder, therefoe have a higher profile and are generally the type of people that you are exposed to by the nature of your job.

Don't forget us, we're definately out there!

Don't get me started on Anzac Day and the intolerable attitudes shown......

That was a day I could have easily forgotten niceties and given a few people a lesson out the back behind the bike racks.......

Sadly, I must say, people let the current tide of events ruin a ceremony that is full of tradition and value from the past, and that should never be forgotten for what it was.

Lest We Forget!

It always, always makes me stop and struggle to breathe when I think of it. I can blame being a girl if I want, but it is something important to me.

But the day we couldn't go into town wearing our work clothes..... that was the day I felt it was not right.

I am going to stop here, before I get really started.......
