Velvet and Plonky.

Being a Police officer is I know, one of society's most demanding professions.

However, as a once resident of Mt Druitt, (51 Bougainville Rd Lethbridge Park) for nine years I must defend the good people that live in the lower socio-economic areas. Both my children were born in Blacktown and attended Kindy etc in the area in their formative years. We also knew many other good folk around the area.

Sure, I have revisited the area since and been smitten by the decay in some areas. Yes, fenced and locked schoolyards do give an indication that all is not well.

So, in reading both your posts over the last few months I see the signs of generalisation creeping in. A danger that many of us sucumb to. Yep me to.

But, it is a danger that we all, but moreso you guys must be vigilant of, lest you be tempted to let a little bit of emotion affect your judgement on the wrong occasion.

There are genuine downtrodden people, we are not all possessed of higher intellect and the ruts of human self respect and the ability to rise above them is somtimes insurmountable for many.

Please dont put them all in the same bag. It is just another form of predjudice.

Oh, and have a good week-end.

You have drawn a very long bow here my friend. I mentioned where the guy came from, with no inference in relation to that. If you wish to take one then it wasnt suggested.

However, walk a mile in Plonky or my shoes and you would see that these observations are made on fact, not inference. If the guy(s) hadve been from the eastern subs of Sydney I wouldve mentioned that as well.

Lets remember who the good guys are here

Personally, I take my hat of to VG and Congratulations for standing your ground.

Unfortunately in todays society, there is an increasing number of folk that have no concept of "RESPECT", or "COURTESY" which I believe is fundamental to a successful society.

I have and always will respect and be courteous to others, including those who tread the fine line, ie Nurses, Firies, Police and others.

For those who don't, well in my opinion there is no room for them on this planet !!

Once again VG, Well done. With people like you trying to make an effort (against the odds), perhaps one day we will be living in an harmonious society in which traditional values are returned.

(I'll get off my soap box now)

You people are one of the reasons I enjoy this Forum so much.

It is so good to be able to chat with real people that have a bit of moral fibre and desire some semblance of civilised standard.

VG and I sometimes honestly believe that our colleagues are the last ones in this great (but declining) country that share standards of civilised behaviour, respect and reward for effort.

No matter how the small 'l' liberal views our respective Governments frustrate us with stupid policy changes designed to favour the criminal it is so good to see that there are civilians out there that share our desire for a decent respectful community.

I am very pleased to be able to chat with you guys!!!

Do you really look like the guy in the 'Village People'? :D

......sorry!

Probably because we havent heard that you have pulled any of us yet..... :wwww::wwww:

Jokes aside like the rest of us you guy's have a job to do and the respect shown on the forum so far has been outstanding, it's good to read some positive feed back rather than the usual barage of insult's that get slung at the police. :winky:

Ken's comment was (very) tongue-in-cheek - shouldn't need to point that out.

Zeke

Actually I have it from a very reliable source that when Ken was a kid he had a very bad accident on his "Easy Rider" trike and as skin grafting was still a new surgical operation back then, they stuffed up and accidentally grafted the tip of his tongue to the inside of his right cheek. :D

The 'reliable source' was the sister-in-law's cousin of the cleaning lady who was on his ward at the time, can't get more reliable than that! :D

Its sad when it comes to a day and age when people cant respect each other let alone police or any other member of the community.

Im sure if someone had parked me in I would have done exactly the same thing..

It is good to see both you VG and Plonky great members of our forum, and it is especially good to see your side of the story about daily activities.

I am sure alot of our members including myself at times have thought all police are bastards. But you prove us all wrong, and show that you do have the same values and beliefs that alot of us have..
