Velvet Glove Team Blueprint Member 532 Member For: 22y 1m 25d Posted 10/10/03 01:56 AM Share Posted 10/10/03 01:56 AM For those of you that wonder what people like myself and Plonky have to put up with on a daily basis (and no....I'm not whingeing, I love my job!) read on:Picture this, a medium sized carpark which would take about 100 cars, and there's 10 cars in it spread all out so, suffice to say, there was a ton of free spaces.I pull up in a Police car in the carpark and am just about to get out of the car when a car stops right next to me, about 1 ft away. I cant get out of my car but the tiny occupants squeeze 2 out the side door. I wind my window down and ask the driver to move his car as I cant get out.He looks at me and says 'whats your problem ?'. I again ask him to move his car so I can get out (being as I was there first). He then commences to argue about how he's in a spot, I'm in a spot so whats the problem......the wrong answer. I then direct him to move his car as it is parked in a manner likely to cause inconvenience and obstruction and I will book him if I have to move my car to get out. He moves his car and continues to argue. His friend joins in. Remember, I asked him probably 4 times nicely.I am in absolute disbelief at this stage. They park in a marked car and still wanna argue. I tell the friend that this is not his matter and to go away. He keeps going. The driver then says 'if its so tight then how come my girlfriend could get out ?'. I tell him that its probably due to the fact that his girlfriend would be lucky to weigh 50kg, whilst I am 105kg.His attitude pushed him to the point where I did a number of checks on him. He kept arguing (I wasnt even talking to him by this point) so the obligatory under bonnet inspection happened. This gentlemen and his friends were visiting us from a well known western suburb of a major Australian city (guess ??)The guy then stood toe-to-toe with me and tried to pull me on. I suggested that if he was going down that avenue that he would want to possess more than a big mouth. He stepped off (as if that wasnt gonna happen !)The I explained to him that I didnt know how it worked where he came from, but that's not the way it worked where I am. By the end of the conversation this gentleman was wanting to shake hands, apologise, know about the cops etc etc.I think the thing that got to me the most was the fact that, despite virtually an empty carpark, he chose to pull up so close to a marked car. I know where he comes from they deliberately try to pull on cops when the cops are isolated (was working by myself). Didnt work for his this time but you wouldnt even do something like that to any average person in a carpark, nonetheless a copper would you ?Sometimes you just really have to wonder. Do the wrong thing and continue to argue and end up wanting to fight coppers. At least he walked away with his tail between his legs. I bet he did!(Post code to Mt Druitt - it's an old running joke for those that used to work there)I had something very similar yesterday, where I stopped a Laser convertible (Capri) in the main street that had four very drunk morons standing on the back seat with a Learner driver driving the car. They decide that because there is 5 of them together, that one HWP guy is an easy target..........Not so!Sometimes peoples ambition gets caught up with their ability! (and the OC spray is STILL unused....that's what all that good CT training can do for you)I think the funniest thing I heard later that evening was one of these oxygen thieves telling me how he pays my wages and I replied " Gee thanks, I'll reach 100 grand again this year" to which he replied "Oh, do you get that much, I thought you got the same as me (dole)" Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6753-and-you-wonder-why-we-bother/#findComment-56370 Share on other sites

Posted 10/10/03 04:39 AM Share Posted 10/10/03 04:39 AM oleoresin capsicum spray.... *shudders*I did a course that had that... as well as CS.....we get gassed with the stuff as part of knowing what it is like before you are tempted to be gas happy in using it, and also in applying first aid after using it.....What an eye closer (as opposed to eye opener, coz you can't keep your eyes open!)As for the morons? There will always be someone out there that thinks they are bigger better stronger faster... and give them enough mates, they will try to prove it.That little bloke now has a war story to tell his mates... "yeah and I had the copper right where I wanted him, but I let him off, he wasn't such a bad bloke in the end blah blah blah" I hear it a lot on the Ricer forums too, blah blah got defected by f$%kn cops blah blah and I usually go off at them.Doesn't win me any friends but it is bloody common sense.Sh!ts me to tears that none of them seem to use the brain they were born with... but I digress. Many people have a deliberate go at Police Force, Defence Force and even Emergency Services. It is pure stupidity because they will be the first ones calling for help in a time of need. It's just too bad sometimes that we can't choose who we want to go and help, but then again, if we were really the sort of people that walked away from a person in trouble... we wouldn't have joined in the first place would we.....C'est la vie! Zeke zeke Member 792 Member For: 21y 11m 15d Location: Adelaide Posted 10/10/03 05:12 AM Share Posted 10/10/03 05:12 AM Back in the late 50's in SA a Police Unit called the "anti-larrikin" squad was formed.I don't think there were many constraints on how they went about doing the job!! So they did the job, and it worked. I believe the unit commanded almost universal respect.I suspect a lot of the methods employed were way outside the bounds of modern political correctness and current accountability standards.Pity we can't go back to some of the more direct and effective policing methods. Of course, Plonky and VG know a lot more about this than I do, but it frustrates me to hear about mindless punks harrassing the police simply because they know how far they can go and get away with it. It would be nice to see some of our legislators experiencing life at the pointy end, before they blindly accept the arguments of the "bleeding hearts".Before anyone gets the wrong idea, my socio-political views are very moderate, and, in some cases, quite radical - definitely not to the right of Ghengis Khan. Trouble is a lot of what's happening today is not moderate - it's effing crazy and the major reason is that our politicians and legislators don't even now enough to know who to listen to. They haven't got a clue about differentiating the so-called experts from the people who really know what's going on.And in any field, not just policing, the people actually know what the score is tend to be closer to the coalface than the boardroom!End of rant for nowzeke Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6753-and-you-wonder-why-we-bother/#findComment-56418 Share on other sites

I shall save that for a few bevvies and a brave audience *wink*Craig ~ ???????????Will be interesting to see how close to the mark you are! What is the wager?(joke!)Hope to see you at the BBQ!:D Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6753-and-you-wonder-why-we-bother/#findComment-56435 Share on other sites

Both my children were born in Blacktown and attended Kindy etc in the area in their formative years. We also knew many other good folk around the area.Sure, I have revisited the area since and been smitten by the decay in some areas. Yes, fenced and locked schoolyards do give an indication that all is not well. So, in reading both your posts over the last few months I see the signs of generalisation creeping in. A danger that many of us sucumb to. Yep me to.But, it is a danger that we all, but moreso you guys must be vigilant of, lest you be tempted to let a little bit of emotion affect your judgement on the wrong occasion. There are genuine downtrodden people, we are not all possessed of higher intellect and the ruts of human self respect and the ability to rise above them is somtimes insurmountable for many. Please dont put them all in the same bag. It is just another form of predjudice.Mackthe... Oh, and have a good week-end.
