hey any one get a rolled edge sun roof fitted ?I went to custom , maidstone in melbourne was quoted $2150 for a standard type hollandia 700 with plastic edge around hole(I buy the new front overhead light) .have been told by many that this guy is the best .I met the guy and I know hes good, but doesnt really want to do a rolled edge as its a lot of work and the whole roof needs painting.id think a rolled edge would give less noise .any one get one done or just go with the crowd?

I wouldn't get a rolled edge, its a lot of extra trouble and the plastic finisher should be adequate, and nobody has to go at your car with hammers, filler and paint. less to go wrong.

Custom did the sunroof in my BF, and they did a good job.

While its not silent with the shade open, it is silent with the shade closed.

With the shade open you do get a bit of a wind rustle, that only gets annoying over the 115 t0 120km/h mark.

I think sometimes its more how tightly sealed the glass is to the body and where they position the glass in relation to the roof. I figure in this case I came out good and they did a really good job.

I agree with what arm79 has said; it appears to have more to do with the placement and fitting of the glass and seal to the hole and plastic edging.

I had mine installed (again a BF) at Prestige Sunroofs, so while I cannot comment on Custom's work I have seen a mates car with one of their installs that was just as tidy as mine - no problems for either of us.

I paid $1950, but it was ~3 years ago now and this was for the Hollandia 700, they refit my front map lights and sunroof switch, I left the sunglasses holder with them.

A very tidy install that, again similarly to arm79 has only got a bit of wind noise with the shade open at 100kmhr+, this is no worry to me as I drive with my roof vented/shade open or roof closed/shade closed 100% of the time.

One of the other great things about Custom Sunroofs is that they are one of, if not the only, non Expensive Daewoo installers that have the sunroof controllers in beige to match the roof lining... Rather than the standard black/charcol.

You just have to ask them nicely for it, and pay extra.

Adrian, how much is this extra fancy, ultra special, VIP only, sunroof beige controller?

When I got mine years ago, Prestige were out of that one and I took the standard, stock, pov, pleb black controller...

I forgot to ever swap it over like I'd planned!

Cost me an extra $65 at the time, over the pov pack black one.

Custom told me the beige ones were a HSV only part, as they were comissioned by HSV to match their interiors. At the time I rang a couple of other places, Prestige included, and they told me it was black only.

Dunno whether that is true or not, but I'm happy.

Prestige told me the same thing Adrian; must be true?

They said they normally have a few on hand they buy as spare parts, but it wasn't normal fitment for them.

The FG does have support beams across the roof where the sunroof would typically sit and this is why it not available even as a factory option, no matter what you are wiling to pay.

However, there are some places fitting them, so there must be something that can be done... at what cost financially or structurally thought, I am unsure.

It was a very hot topic around 12 months ago, especially for people who got G6E and G6ET models.
