Hi guys/girls

I have an 04 BA and I notice that my car takes off faster and has more solid boost in adaptive mode from a standing start than performance mode. Does anyone else notice a difference? I thought it would be the opposite. I find peformance mode good when overtaking as it stops the gearbox kicking back hard.

hmm never really tried it.... I find performance mode helps the gearbox out alot especially when you stop it from kicking back gears like you said cause I find it put alot more unwanted quick torque on the gearbox. In my book anything that can save the life on these weak 4 speeds is good :stupid:

I have noticed that.

The trick seems to involve a very slow opening of the throttle - using just enough throttle to avoid an upshift. When done in adaptive mode the acceleration can be quite staggering provided the throttle opening is sufficiently disciplined. The acceleration can be so profound that once you get to about 33 percent throttle it is time to back off.

Not sure what is going on. There are a myriad of possibilities turbo spool, airspeed cooling the induction system, torque limiting systems... etc.

One thing is certain, these beasties are far more complex and satisfying to drive well than is first imagined.

Regards,

aa
