hi, I have just been offered a typhoon intercooler and all the piping needed for $350. Just wanting to know will this be beneficial at all in regards to power gains? also is that a good price? sorry but im only new to the xr6t game.

Cheers, jesse.

its just pritty much a better flowing kit then the stock ones on the ba/bf series and I hope you have in mind a tune if your throwing that on becuase you will overboost if you dont get a tune aswell and overboost = bang. you could pritty much buy a bolt on monza cooler for $200-$250 but keep in mind anything involving performance mods you would be safe as to get a tune aswell

Any intercooler bigger than the stocker would have to be better....

I fitted a Typhoon one to mine because I wanted a factory part that didnt need mods to go straight on....

If you dont want to get too carried away power wise, a Typhoon deal will be fine....but if you want consistent 350+ type power....then you may be better off getting something bigger....

As XR6TCamo has said,it depends on your tune as well....although I fitted mine well before I had it tuned...

For the money, provided its in good shape, I'd grab it anyway....you can always on-sell it later if you decide to go bigger..

Without knowing what you've already got, and what you are aiming for...its hard to say.. :icon_ford:

Hope this helps....

You won't need the piping, but you will need the brackets depending if you have a BA or BF and what model the cooler came off. Also $350 is to high IMO, you should be looking to pay around $150-$200.

Would be hard pushed to get a F6 cooler for $200. 250-350 is normally the going price from what I have seen. $300 without the pipes would be a decent deal.

I bought one for $200 about 12months ago, sold it again on ebay for $205. I have seen a couple advertised on here for sub-$200 quite a while ago. I just searched around though and seems most recent ones are going for closer to $300, so without pipes that would prob be spot on.

I honestly wouldnt bother with a typhoon intercooler.

I would be saving up and buying something decent that you wont have to replace later on down the track.

do it right the first time

yeh I was offered it from a mates neighbor and thought it would be better than stock. Hopefully another mate of mine can get onto this guy which he owes my mate a free tune, so I might be able to get them done around the same time and maybe upping the boost a bit. my car is completely stock too, so how much more power would the typhoon inter cooler make on it with say a 10 psi tune if it is safe to run at that psi as a stock car? its a ba 5 speed manual too.

Cheers, jesse.

I agree, do some research... I had a typhoon cooler on mine, did sfa if you ask me.

the std(or fpv) intercooler design is the problem with the outlet looping back on itself, it does not flow well at all...

if you do get the phoon cooler, you dont need a re-tune! it may reject a bit more heat, but its not going to flow any better....

if your on a budget look at HDI kit, they work well and you get to upgrade your cold side pipes at the same time... plus they look sexy!
