Ford blows XR8

7 April 2010

FORD’S first blown XR8 will mark the 50th

anniversary of Australia’s Falcon in 2010,

according to official Australian Design Rule

documents.

Federal vehicle certification information

obtained by GoAuto reveals Ford Australia

has received formal homologation approval

for an XR8 Falcon ute powered by a

supercharged 5.0-litre petrol V8 that delivers

315kW at 6500rpm.

A blown XR8 would be sweet - the next hero cars of the Falcon range. Nothing beats the sound of a supercharged V8.

so are ford getting the new V8, and then are FPV slapping on a blower to show up HSV or what? I doubt it if the sc would be on the XR models? or am I wrong...im confused. if the sc is on all models wouldnt FPV just wind up the boost and play with intake and or the exhuast bits?

XR8 is purely Ford. If Ford are using the SC to produce 315kw from their xr8, FPV will have to respond with 330kw+... more boost etc. Brillliant! There is no way I'd buy a HSV over one of these!

5 litre is a good move, with the modern technology used on the coyote engine, it will produce more power and torque along with lower fuel consumption then the rattly old push rod chevy used in the Holden.

Holden's answer to more power is and always has been "add more cubes, that'll do it".
