Just rang AAMI up because my bill was almost due and I hadn't told them about the latest round of mods. :roflmbo: I was a bit nervous as only a couple of months back I'd had to make a decent claim - but I'm rating 1 for life. The bill $759 was before I told them about the intercooler kit and they didn't have on their system that it had been tuned. So I told them all that and they guy asked if I could answer a few questions, where I park during the day/night etc.

New bill $721, plus I get a no claim bonus. :o

Just make sure it is physically on your policy not just on their system, as if it's not in writing they have wriggle room processing claims.

That said I have been a long time customer and even moved other insurances over to them.

Their service when I have needed it has been first rate in their promptness and quality of repairspoton.gif

Bufphoon is spot on. When I told them of my mods, I relayed it all in detail over the phone, then when they sent me confirmation in writing, half of the stuff id told the girl wasnt on there, AND it said I had a SUPERCHARGER on the car... :3gears:

So, just wait for the policy amendment in writing.

Thre reason for this is that they have a standard list of upgrade boxes that they can tick on the screen.

You say tune, they say chip , things they have options for don't cover Cat's , Dump pipes etc - they say exhorst.

When I bought my first Phoon I was asked what an intercooler wassurrenderwave.gif

Don't forget you are generally dealing with call centre staff, generally female and generally no interest in

enthusiasts cars. Cover your arse people

the callcenter comment is spot on - but this time I got an aussie guy who knew what an intercooler was, even asked what brand so he could put it on file.

But he found stuff on the policy listed as "other" with no further reference from some of the ladies/gents that I had spoken to previously

That would be correct. It will in all likely hood sit on their records as other. Just get them to put it in black and white.

They can do it

that's good news, they dont care about anything anymore except where you live and the car MUST BE ROADWORTHY AND LEGAL, I rang about 20' wheel on my car and they did not care as long as it was road worthy.

so as long as the parts and mods on your car are road worthy it is fine.

if I put supercharger on my xr8 I would need to get it engineered and then it be legal, now if I did not get it engineered insurance company would still take my money but wont pay out

if I stack.

Legal means it compiles with ADR 69 which is emmisions, anyone with squirters and zorst will probably fail.

Again, understand your policy, if they insure illegal mods, does the fine print exempt them as the car is not legally

on the road. blush.gif
