hahahahaha,

Well yes, it appears that way doesn't it... It was after the general service as I had the gearbox serviced, so they took it out to see if it was all good. He mentioned it to me afterwards as I was picking up the car...

Anyways...

I've just come inside from working on the car. I did;

Air filter

Cleaned Throttle body

Boost Solenoid

And other general stuff...

I have to say that the car feels better - Idle is better as well. Still quite lethargic off boost, but an improvement over what it was before I did the work... I did however find something really interesting as I was removing the X-over...

The top left pipe coming off the crossover - The one that goes to the mouth of the turbo came straight off at the turbo end when I removed it from the X-over... I don't know if it wasn't connected, or was just in very loosely, but would that have had much effect? I put it back in and tightened it, and after everything, that car is driving much like I imagine a new one would. Still a little laggy, but a huge improvement.

When it hits boost, it's awesome again. Reminds me of old times... Makes me wanna do something stupid like get into debt to have the car tuned again :lookaround:

So for now, I think all is well, so thanks for all your help everyone!

Cheers,

Dan

Thanks Robbo,

And thanks to everyone else who offered their advice :turboboink:

As said, it is much better, but I'm still keen to get her low end grunt back in the future... Maybe she just needs a quality XFT tune :bowdown:

Thanks again everyone,

Dan

These things are pretty lethargic under 2,000rpm anyway ... not a lot can be done about that cept for a better exhaust and intake.

Glad to see it was only general servicing that was required and no broken parts. Nothing against your chosen mechanic, but they should really have checked these simple things themselves and advised you that servicing is required ....

I have had similar lately. Car has been feeling heavy and needs a bit more throttle to get going, even when just cruising around town but still not using any more fuel. I used some 'upper engine cleaner' made by subaru while trying to rectify a rough idle when im using LPG. I took her for a drive after I had done what the instructions on the can said but didnt notice anything different. However a day later when I drove her she is definately feeling lighter. Feeling the same on boost but much less throttle needed to get her moving while cruising around. $18 a can from subaru, apparently better and cheaper than the ford stuff.
