Almost like it was towing something. (That's the metaphor he used) My mum chimed in, saying that when she drove it, she also thought it felt very sluggish.I had never really noticed it, but in the 2 days it was at the shop having a few little things done, I drove 2 other cars, and I do have to say that it does feel a little 'heavy' I didnt really notice it before, but it is actually quite noticeable.I can't really tell you if it has always been like this though. Boost comes on in a fairly linear fashion - No boost lag really, so I think I do have to give the boost solenoid cleaning trick a go.I'm just wondering, is there anything anyone can think of that makes the car seem lethargic? The mech said this car should be more pokey than my mums VX Clubsport. I had thought it was due to the face that mum has a V8, but 2 of the mechs who drove the car both have N/A 6's.I'm a bit of a stickler for having my car running at it's absolute best, so I'd love any advice anyone could offer on the issue. Hopefully it's just one of the common problems that is an easy fix.As far as other issues go, there are a couple of niggling things, but if anyone brings them up, then I'll know that's what the problem is...Thanks everyone,Dan Edited 07/04/10 01:23 PM by NVT

Could be dirty air filter, blocked fuel filter, boost leak, stuffed cat .... the list goes on.Try removing the negative terminal from the battery for a few hours to clear any timing retard that has been put in by the knock sensors. A squirt of WD40 into the solenoid isn't gonna hurt even if you think it's not the problem. Clean the throttle body.Maybe take it back to APC and get them to check the tune. These things can be pretty hard to diagnose sometimes.Cheers,Ben Edited 07/04/10 01:40 PM by BensXR6T

It was destroying my gearbox, so now I've got it running stock, and have had it that way for probably a year now...Air filter is fine as I cleaned it not long ago, Had the fuel filter done not long ago. As for the boost leak or a stuffed cat, is that something I can check myself? Any idea's how?I might clean the throttle body out and do the boost solenoid on the weekend and see if that helps. I'll try the battery thing as well when I do the rest. Thanks guys.Dan

Could also be a boost leak or just a vacum hose, had one get undone recently and it makes the car feel sluggish but yo can hear it hissing under the bonet.Try the boost solenoid first and see ow it goes. Felt like it was surging, and if I put my foot down a bit, felt like the revs dropped out a bit then caught up later... At operating temp, absolutely not a drama... Haven't tried since I've had the car back, but I will tomorrow. (From memory this is something to do with the coil-packs or leads or something?)My boost gauge has been really weird as of later - Either coz there's something wrong with the car, or my gauge is a peice of crap. It sits much lower than usual - At idle it sits as low as it possibly can, and even at full boost, the needle never passes 0 pounds of boost. Still moves when I accelerate and hit boost but the Problem is that the needle is sitting about 5 points lower than it used to (5pounds boost stock = now reads 0) Either its making 5psi and my gauge is buggered, or I have boost leak or something...? Car still feels like it makes boost, but not as responsive as before... Don't know what this problem is, but wouldn't be suprised if it was only my crappy gauge and that it's just maing me think something is wrong when it isn't...I did have a ticky injector a while ago, but hasn't given me any grief for ages. Don't know if it's an injector issue? Fuel sits at about 13.0L/100 and I don't drive it hard...Don't really know what else could be causing this...Thanks guys,Dan

It's pretty cheep and would save you money by knowing exactly what is wrong and not replacing parts you dont have to.

I have put down to the computer making the decision with the throttle and not my foot to "save" the engine. Although I don't boot it when cold so its usualy smooth to about 2.5krpm. Then after about 10-15 mins I drive however I want.

If it has a boost leak you might be able to hear it as its making more PSI on the tune

Like you mentioned, I don't want to be forking out money I don't have on parts that I don't need... And as far as the Revs thing goes - I didn't mean booting it at all... I'm talking about the auto shifting gears at like 1800-2000rpm, so absolutely nowhere near a 'hard' drive...Robbo, as far as running the tune goes, It is actually really loud and 'whistley' when I have the tune... Sounds sh*t hot, but I honestly don't think I'd be able to tell if it was a boost leak, or like you said just more PSI making everything louder...Thanks everyone, might have a look at some of these things if I can find the time today...Cheers,Dan

Maybe time for a new mechanic?
