Hey guys, was wondering if you could help me with a problem?

When I start my car and the engine is cold it has a ticking noise.

And when I put the car into drive and take off the engine screeches.

Then as the engine warms up the ticking noise disappears and the screeching goes away as well. The ford mechanic I’ve taken it too does not know what’s going on. He has ruled out the cat converter and thinks it might be something to do with the turbo.

Does this sound like a gasket or a drive belt? Please help!

Not sure what is it but my car has been doing it for over twelve months. It is hard to diagnose because by the time I get to the mechanic it has stopped and will not do it again properly until the car is cooled down.

Open the bonnet and have a listen where its coming from. If its the head it would be the lifters not getting enough oil when cold. How loud is it? I know injectors make a ticking sound.

As for the screech it may be the fan belt.

my car has same noise, but the last two days its no longer only on idle, its very slightly there under normal driving too, much louder on startup.

My mechanic had mentioned my manifold gasket was worn and it will need replacing soon, so im hoping this is the issue otherwise that two problems to fix, its going to the mechanic this week so I'll let you know.

I dont expect a small bill considering all the bits need to come off.

Ill keep you posted
