I have been trying to run my car as dry as possible without completely running out so I can figure out how many Kms I will get per tank of fuel. My problem is that even with the readout stating only 2 Kms to empty I still can't put in more than 60 litres of fuel. I get approx 16 ltrs per 100kms around town and am doing approx 415 from a full tank to what the readout says is 2-3 kms to go. Is it just that the readout is very inaccurate?

Has anyone else noticed? I don't want to keep driving around when DTE says I am nearly empty but the numbers don't add up.

Usually fill up with 20-30 ks on the DTE, and put in about 60 litres each time.

Most ever put in was just over 62 litres (can't remember DTE).

I know exactly what you mean. I could get my AU down to 6 litres in the tank safely. But with the BA I always seem to have 10 litres left even when driving for ages with the fuel light on.

After doing 38 k's after 0 to go DTE, I've been able to get 66 litres in.

Wezz's tale of power loss when fuel light is on, isn't compulsory as my car had fuel light on at RDP dyno day & still made good power which suprised Steve & crew.

I used to own a SS ( I know, you don't have to tell me, but , I now own a Turbo ) and I was told that I still had a 60km range when it said 0. This was so that you didn't run out of petrol and have to ring up the road side assist blokes. Don't know if this is true as I have never tried it.

Yeah,

They do it so you don't run the tank dry, it's bad for the fuel pump, also crud in the tank will get sucked up if you run it dry. (sez he who's t is currently showing 60 DTE...) I'd kill for a tank 20 ltrs bigger.

Swap the sedan for a ute, you'll get your 80 litre tank, and some change left over for the engine mods!
