I fell awkwardly at work. Normally I fall with some style and flair..

Landed on a 2 inch steam pipe, say, just above the right hip, on the side a bit.

It hurt as you`d expect but I was midway through the job so after I took a minute or two to regroup I got it all finished. As the afternoon progressed I realised it was going to take a while to come good. No biggie, harden the f*ck up.

By the time I drove home its just going crazy, went the private hospital cha ching!!! Doc said maybe its ribs.

Go to work next day, it`s hopeless, got told off for being workaholic etc.. I figure I got the weekend it`ll all be good. Saturday went to my own quack and xrays told us no rib breakage ( knew that anyway ) doc says: rib cartilage torn and that a broken rib would have been preferable. They always say that..

Okay, now in the car it HURTS. Actually if you put your hands on the spot where the injury is you soon realise that its the muscles that initiate movement for just about anything you do. right hand corners in the car = ow!!!!

So, I went on the cruise friday night :buttrock: atleast I behaved myself.

I then had to do a total of about 280 klm over the weekend ferrying kids about.

Limited assisting in the Pits at Willowbank wasn`t smart either but it was rewarding.

Despite all that, I woke this morning with some confidence that it was actually healing. Felt half okay, go to work.

Now, I`m thinking watch every step, walk carefully.. Plan every move. Don`t climb up there with a sledge hammer.

Its all going great.. During the start proceedure for the plant I run, I need to climb up onto a screen deck. I do it every morning.

So, when I stepped up a couple feet and dragged my full weight with my out stretched right hand upwards the resulting blinding white light I saw came as an imediate surprise.

By the living Christ it was intense.

I thought you farkin idiot.. The cartilage had probably just started to knit together and I not only tore it apart but possibly tore it worse.

THEN I had to get back down. It`s just grabbing like a bastard now, I told the manager I`d wait and see wtf went on with it. I had stuff to catch up on and frankly I couldn`t get in the car anyway.

I`m home now. Worst part is, spare time, internet, Visa and phone..

No overtime on compo. I`ve spent a grand already. Howard at race Brakes is packaging my rear brake parts and braided lines as I type this.

If you`re reading this and you are a sponsor of this forum and see my phone number on the caller ID?

Do not pick up.. :spoton:

Well, I told the doc I was going to work today no matter what so he put me on light duties.

I`ll go in tomo and get it back dated to include today and possibly tomorrow.

To be honest Ben it could ages to heal properly, but I`m hoping if I don`t f*ck it up again I should be able to go back Wednesdasy and Thursday then take it steady over Easter.

But... I`ll be doing my rear rotor and pad change, fitting the bradied lines and a fluid change.

The hardest thing of all was convincing myself not to do weights Last Friday night :buttrock:

How`s your clutch, Ben? It didn`t seem happy on friday night :(

Yeah you'll be in some discomfort for quite a while I am afraid.

Cartlidge takes a long time to repair due to a lack of blood supply to it.

Longer than bone or muscle injuries.
