Guess I just tug on the cable end inside the car to release the bonnet manually so I can get at the cabling in the engine bay (bonnet still shut tightly)? And will follow your advice and change out the whole cable - sounds like something happened to it and that's why there was excessive force needed on the plastic lever.

Hope it's as farrken easy as you guys make out it is :roflmbo:

to pop the bonnet just use a tool to grab the end off the cable and hold the plastic handle mold and pull. Bonnet open. 30 mins or your money back. Lol

I replaced one in our BA a couple of years ago.

I taped a rope to the end of the cable that was being replaced, pulled the rope through to the cabin, then taped the new release cable to the rope and pulled it back through to the front of the car.

That worked well.
