I think you can add someones name for very little cost , but to change it over usually depends on the sale amount so just say you sold it to her for $1000 and the costs should only be around $100

If the rules are similar to QLD you should be able to transfer it to her name without stamp duties if you declare the car is a gift, then you should only have to pay the transfer fee.

I have just bought a car, NSW rega transfer fee is $95 plus stamp duty which is 3% of either the purchase price or market value which ever is greater!

But most of the people behind the counter wouldn't know the market value so you can usually put down a cheaper price as long as it's not too crazy, you wouldn't get away with a saying you bought a 2009 Falcon for $1500 for example.

Cheers

Pretty sure that if the sale price is unrealistic the fee is charged on the market value of the car. How much it gets enforced I don't know but that's what I found when I looked into it.

The RTA are cracking down on this as it will cost them money. If your unrealistic with the price they may deman market value.
