Guest HocuSChrisT Guests Posted 08/10/03 02:55 AM Share Posted 08/10/03 02:55 AM absolutely it is a GT40, originally it was going to be a 35, but it was found to be too limp by Ford back when the XR6T was simply known as project Gull. They only got about 220kw max with the 35 and they wanted more, so, along came the 40. However, I've read that the 40 wasn't used to it's full potential, and that can be seen by only using 6psi boost. to the forum Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6711-xr6-turbo-brand/#findComment-55847 Share on other sites

Guest WHITEXR6T Guests Posted 08/10/03 07:16 AM Share Posted 08/10/03 07:16 AM thanks for the welcome.I have heard that the factory turbo (now I know its a GT40), can easily be used at 1.0 bar instead of 0.5, with the standard XR6T setup, without modifying the intercooler. Can anyone clarify this story? and have any comments? And will boosting up the turbo effect warranty? (maybe a silly question, but someones gotto ask them )has anyone attempted to wind up the GT40 turbo? cheers,Ron Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/6711-xr6-turbo-brand/#findComment-55926 Share on other sites

I don't think I'd like to run 1 bar through a standard intercooler might ping on a hot day, they are only a small cooler.
