Didn't respond and made me drop some power on a few tries.I couldn't keep up with the WRX STi, R33 Skyline or Audi S3... :(Met and bet VR clubsport, 200sx turbo, various bmw's and a mkIV supra... Sheer usable torque range kept the rest of the field honest I reckon! Other cars would lose me in the corner (damn 1700kg lardass of a car!) but coming out of it and on the straights I'd reel em in right smart.(oh and I must say - those little Audi S3's are honest-to-god rockets!!! )good little mix-up, I had fun and the car held up really well.1. Temperature stayed rock-solid at 2mm below halfway ALL DAY. 32 degrees, not much wind.2. Traction control sucks for the track. Switch it off.3. 175km/hr down the main straight! 4. 3rd gear for entire track (use the torque baby!) except main straight. So much for useless slow gear changes!!! I caught sooooo many of the other guys coming into and out of corners, because they had to change 1 or 2 times to my ZERO!5. I used an average of 33.4 litres/100km on the track, average speed for one of the laps (or so, wasn't really concentrating on the trip-puter for obvious reasons) was 98.7km/hr. Don't know if that's fast or not, but it felt good!!!6. I was told the XR6T was one of the best surprises they'd had for a while7. The exhaust note blaring past at 4500rpm in 4th is apparently "pretty damn nice"... heheheAnyways, just thought I'd share it... Coz I'll be back there soon!!!(oh, and pics to follow when the track-photographers send me the CD!!!)cheers

Wish I'd been able to catch up and have a chat - but I was too busy having fun on the circuit heheheh.BTW I had no trouble catching and passing the WRX STi. I didn't see the Audi S3 or the R33 though, maybe 'cos I was late arriving.
Guest Mr Walker Guests Posted 21/01/03 04:41 AM Share Posted 21/01/03 04:41 AM Physh,It would be interesting to get an auto out there to compare. If 2nd gear in the manual was too short, 2nd gear in the auto is probably perfect and will accelerate faster out of corners than using 3rd in the manual. This is similar to Wanneroo Raceway (Barbagallo) in Perth where standard auto cars are faster than manuals - pisses me off! Conversley, the extra torque might mean that the difference is minimal. What time were you out there? We weren't actually timing the laps unfortunately, but hey - felt good anyway.Once I got the feel of the car I think I would have been a fair bit quicker at the end.MrWalker - yeah, I tried 2nd gear a few times, it was just WAY too short. The manual in 3rd was sweet as, and I agree - I reckon an auto in performance mode would be better again. The chassis is brilliant, and if 2nd in the auto allowed you a broader range while keeping it in the torque sweet spot... yeah baby!!!
