That's not through hard driving - I'm running in the high 12's to low 13's L/100 kms around Sydney and using rat runs to avoid toll roads. The front tyres have about the same wear as the rears - more evidence that I have not been caning it.My last car ran 17" tyres and they were always good for around 35,000 kms. I am hoping that 18" rubber does not wear any more quickly than 17" rubber. I am hoping that a different brand of tyre will improve longevity.I am looking for feedback on tyre brands that last and also how well these tyres grip. I bought a set of Yokohama Advan A13's for $285 each from Tyre King at Baulkham Hills (02 9686 4606). They said they normally sell for around $480 each. The price sounds right but I have my doubts about tyre life. Any feedback on these tyres?PAH Edited 23/03/10 09:38 PM by PAH

So that's a good price you've got. Normally they are about $340 each. They are abit noisier than the OEM ones but grip much better.Personally I prefer more grip. I'd be lucky to get 15,000K out of these yoko tyres. I got 26k of out the OEM tyres. It's bad enough dropping from 50,000 km's to 30,000 km's when I went from 15" rubber to 17" rubber. Can anybody recommend an brand that lasts around 30,000 km's? He's running the Advans and when we last spoke, didn't seem too happy with them. Now, my story.... After the OEM Dunlops on my car bit the dust I fitted a set of Marangoni Mythos 245x40x18.... cost?....about 300 a pop....got 32000kms out of em' before needing a new set, they were a great tyre considering the caning they got (I never dragrace but do tend to get excited on a twisty bit of road). The local tyre guy talks me into a set of Nexen 6000's...@235 a pop....the worst tyre I have ever had....would never buy em' again Im gonna' rip them off and get a decent set like I should have in the first place....serves me right for being a tightass..... Have ordered another set of Marangonis...... Edited 25/03/10 06:32 AM by BionicXR6T

These Advans are A13's and are not on their website. I phoned them yesterday - they appear to be a tyre designed for the Mitsu Evo X. I wonder if that means they might be even more biased towards grip rather than lifespan?Marangoni Mythos sound worth a try.Anybody tried Nankangs? Not sure how they grip. Whatever is used, it needs to hold up against XR6T torquePAH
