Gday Guys,

New to the XR6T world of things. Got myself a Manual BA MKII Magnet Ute (Blood Orange) about 2 weeks ago, stock as a rock. Quite the step up from a 4 cylinder 2.5l Magna Wagon that's for sure =p.

Thought itd give my brothers 260kw Monaro a hiding. However... it was not to be! Still gets me off the line and long after every time, tried every sort of launch possible but cant seem to get ahead. How do other people go against VY-VZ V8's?

Looking at a few modest modifications to get myself started. What sort of power gains can I expect from full exhaust (dump pipe right through to tips), custom tune and cold air intake? Also, what more do I need to do to get that notorious 300rwkw?

What exhaust set up do people recommend? Note im looking for is refined, quality note. Not loud deafning dodgeyness.

Looked through the forums but cant seem to find much on power gains for everything im after. Thought itd be easier to post!

Thanks for any help in advance.

Jesh

EDIT: Also looking at CAPA Stage 5 Kit. Seems to be the logical decision to go through CAPA as I live in SA. Anyone gone through CAPA with their XR6 Turbo?

Howdy, I had a BF xr6turbo with a 6 spd auto and on many occasions raced my brothers VZ 6.0l L98 ss ute 6 spd manual and he would win hands down everytime, he would always get about half a car length infront of me from hte start then the front of my car would creep up to the front of his door.

After my sh*tty tune, it was all over for him :)

Hi, Can never get mine going well either ... Dump clutch = insaine wheel spin Slip clutch to much and it over heats and slips.

For 300rwkw injectors fuel pump f6 snorkel tune and an intercooler if cash provides should pretty well see you there... Maybe valve springs and a clutch (so far mines both stock and holding up well) At 300 you'll absolutely piss all over him though haha..

Thanks for the ridiculously quick replies lads!

As for cash. No issue, ill spend what I need to get it done properly.

Sounds like these cars get 300rwkw quite easily. Heard quite alot about BA's and getting the valve springs done. Worthwhile investment?

Oh and about the clutch... Is anyone else clutch heavy as hell. Ill have leg muscles the size of trucks at this rate. Is this normal for an XR6T or is it likely the previous owner has upgraded/replaced them (Would ask but he just left overseas for the army). Mates XR6 (non turbo) is like stepping on a feather.

Cheers again. Unbelievable speed of replies!

Anyone got info on CAPA?

f6 snorkle

injectors

fuel pump

cat

monza or f6 intercooler will do the job cheaply for 300rwkw but not much more.

rapid or pwr do good stage 1 cooler kits.

valve springs if needed

and you may need a stronger turbo actuator if it cant hold higher boost.

all up pretty cheap!

Yes...BA's suffer with bad springs....BF's are slighty better, but not much..

Only one choice for you....Mal Wood Option 3.....best allround clutch for these sort of cars no bull....will handle just about all you can throw at it without a heavy pedal...and he's a forum sponsor too... :surrenderwave:

Mate, Invest in a set of injectors, Fuel Pump, Intercooler, and a custom tune and you'll be close if not into the 300 club. Go see Bruce at Heinrich Performance and tuning in Lonsdale..that's where most of the SA guys go and he is top bloke...Tell him what you want and he will tell you how to get it at a good price..No bullsh*t with him. :beerchug:
