Posted 07/10/03 12:44 PM Share Posted 07/10/03 12:44 PM Hey folks, I had an idea.... *run run now, while you can* Don't know if anyone might be interested, but thought the Canberra and surrounding area folk might like a bit of a Meet and Greet in our local area. Not saying the big cruise with the Sydney folk isn't a great tour, because we are certainly hoping to join in on that fun too, looks awesome and seems that missxr has put a lot of work into that trip.Just thought it might be nice for the smallest state in Oz to have a little gathering, maybe a BBQ to say hi and get to know each other. Find a decent spot to line up the cars and take some pics n stuff. Not necessarily go cruising off into the distance, more sitting around having a chat, eating food, talking about the cars and experiences with them. I will leave planning cruises and driving to the experts. I am more interested in planning a gathering of people for fun, laughs, a few beverages and something to eat/burn on the fire!I sorta tried this idea out in another thread but it was BATHURST DAY!Duoh! What was I thinking!Totally blonde moment there!!!!!I was thinking maybe the Sunday before the big cruise, 9th November, so that those of us going on the 16th can organise a Road Trip just to get there. What say the Canberran Clan? And nearby area's of course!Anyone else wanting a fang (responsible drive) to Canberra for fireworks and maybe some pr0n *nudge nudge wink wink* feel free........Anyway, back on track......how say the crowd???? Posted 07/10/03 12:57 PM Author Share Posted 07/10/03 12:57 PM Well plonky, seeing as you will be travelling the longest, you let us know what time you want to leave home, eta and we will organise someone to meet you and bring you to BBQ location and time the start of the BBQ at around same time.....I had it to start on the Sunday too, is that the best day for you?Do you have to work on Monday? All the usual questions I guess. Also, if you let me know your food preferences, I will organise a bbq pack for you. We were just going to say to everyone to BYO meat and a bit of something extra salad wise and there should be a ton of food. And pick a location that is nice and touristy with a view of some sorts.Take a drive up black mountain to the big ole Telstra Tower/spark plug for nice pics etc.....Anyway, let me know what your options are and we will work with that.Cheers! Plenty of BBQ locations around, Black Mountain Peninsula has plenty (though it was packed out last fordxr6turbo.com get together). Just a thought. Plenty of space to leave the cars, and nice and close so we can keep a eye on them.Black Mountain Peninsula would be the same id say, its a good spot too.The good thing about the Cotter is if one particular BBQ spot is full, you just cruise round the corner and find another spot, and if that's full just keep on cruising around, you will eventually find somewhere that's is free. My 1.8c worth. Cheers!Mick.

Any location will do for me. But Cotter would be my pick. Last time I was at Black Mountain Peninsula, about 2 weeks ago, it was seriously packed. Posted 08/10/03 11:33 AM Author Share Posted 08/10/03 11:33 AM I was more thinking BBQ somewhere along Yarralumla or something along those lines, then a drive up Black Mountain for an oooooh ahhhhh, take pics blah blah blah sort of thing. Not actual BBQ at Black Mountain Peninsula. One place I recently had a BBQ was Telopea Park in Kingston and it was great! Its not the BBQ site we are necessarily interested in for the photo opportunties.I am organising a big get together for the "other BA's" in a couple of weeks so I will see how that all goes.People from Melbourne, Sydney and Wollongong, and two from Brissy too! Organising Motels n stuff.... we are going to take everyone on a cruise thru Fyshwick, up Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, out to Gold Creek and lots of touristy stuff for the out of towners. We are also taking everyone to Questacon!! With the competitive spirit amongst the boys, it should be a blast! But is should also give me a whole bunch of ideas for our Meet n Greet too!I love doing things like this, just have to watch I don't over commit myself, to a mental institution that is.... *wink*

I usually take Monday and Tuesday off and make sure I'm back for Pension Day.Can we stop at Fyshwick? Can we? Can we?I have a DVD....and I want some new movies (instead of car chase, war and cult classic)
