IS there anyway of turning the seatbelt alarm off. I had it done in my BF easily enough but cant figure the FG one out. This also has nothing to do with the wearing or not wearing seatbelts.

I'm sure there is a way as not everyone is required to wear seatbelts for various reasons, and such people would go insane with the damn ringing.

Go to the wreckers, whip out ya shiv and slice a seat belt metal clip off the belt in a wreck and pocket it.

Whack that into the seat belt reciever problem solverered.

Why would you not want the chime, IB? Do you occaisonally have an extremely portly passenger? Do deliveries and constantly alight from the vehicle?

Hmmm?

Yes, that is actually the best solution. I wouldn't take any risks by tampering with the circuitry.

That's far from an ideal solution...airbags need to know if you're wearing your seatbelt.

Apparently the only way is for the dealer to do it, no tricks like the B-series (press demister 38 times, pull your left ear, tap your nose sort of stuff)

re: the airbag Trent, I understand there is a sensor in the seat. Which tells the car if an adult or child is sitting on it. Which I think is why you must never put a booster seat on the front seat of an airbag equiped car, or any car really.

I`m still keen to know why IB wants to do away with his chimes..

The pressure switch in the seat won't know the difference between an adult and a child. All it will tell the system is that someone, or something, is on the seat. It's not that smart of a car.

get in a car, close the door, set the e-brake and put the key in the ignition.

now, turn the key to on, but DO NOT start the engine. wait until seat belt warning light turns OFF (it takes about a minute).

now, within 60 seconds you have to complete following procedure:

buckle-unbuckle your seat belt 3 times, ending in unbuckled position.

turn your headlights ON and OFF

buckle-unbuckle your seat belt 3 times, ending in unbuckled position again.

seat belt warning will be illuminated for 3 seconds.

after warning light turns OFF, within 7 seconds buckle-unbuckle seat belt ONCE.

warning light will now flash 4 TIMES for confirmation if procedure has been successful.

and that's it! no more annoying chime. for enabling chime, just repeat the procedure.

that will apparently disable the seatbelt chime in the FG. been meaning to try it but havent got around to it yet.

as for why you would want it disabled, it is extremely annoying when driving between the shed in the gate (not even a long driveway) and around the parking area at work where I have to lean out to swipe ID tags or press buttons to open gates.
