I am leaving Gregorys Braddon at 9am so we can meetMissXR and co at Bathurst at 12:00.

I am not driving to Sydney, seems a little pointless to me. Everyone else is welcome to drive to Sydney though!!!!

ok cool, I'll see you there a bit before 9:00am

OK, It seems the cruise is not going via Goulburn - could someone please post the expected route from Canberra? I'm supposing if it is not up the Hume then it must be via Yass and Boorowa? - I have to decide whether I'm going via Sydney or Canberra, or whether I'll just take the shortcut through Goulburn and Crookwell and meet you all at Bathurst at midday. Ta.

that's the way I am going. If the rest of the Canberra crew want to go via Sydney they can! A lot easier going direct to Bathurst from Canberra IMHO.

I'm going to try my best to make this, even though I'm going to the Rugby Sat & Sun nights. Should be a good drive, as I went past Sofala yesterday after a 4WD weekend to Hill End.

Here's a pic of a typical moment.... not to be attempted in the XR6T.

For the dirt road wimps.....

There is NO dirt road driving required to get to Sofala from either Bathurst or from Ilford on the Lithgow-Mudgee road.

The road from Bathurst to Sofala is a nice drive with the highlight being the short hill climb up Mt Wyagdon.

For those interested this climb was used for some of the photos in the Motor magazine comparo, of the Fords v Holdens (at Bathurst) from a couple of months ago, I told them to go there and rip loose. A short but spirited driving opportunity.

Check out the lollie shop, pub (for some lemonades) and the Gaol cafe (Harvey and Dianne Parsonage are the owners and I'm sure they'd be happy for the group to rollup for lunch)

Any more questions?

Part time Sofala resident

Thanks for that information :banghead:

I will contact them ASAP and get a booking for a nice sit down lunch.
