Thanks for the feedback guys,

its probably more a case that I would option it for the colour screen and any improvement in sound is a bonus.

I had an FG turbo for the weekend some time ago with standard screen and must admit I had trouble reading it at times. (must be getting old)

just thinking the colour screen may be a better option long term. All gets down to how much more I have to pay for it.

Cheers,

Pete

colour screen definately worth it, I disconnected my factory sub and added two 12s a cap and a BIIIIIG amp and sounds great, standard speakers seem to be up to the challenge...

The option for the premium sound should not be considered as an audio upgrade, but the ability to get the colour screen.

The reason the audio is so crap in the FG is because the $2 chinease speakers ruin the sound. If you are worried about audio quality, replace the speakers and it makes a huge difference.

This can be done for a few hundred dollars.

Definitely worth it.. the standard screen to me looks too 'taxi-ish'

Sound is ok but upgrade the speakers if you are keen.. if you prefer to park in front of your local Macca's and let everyone know you have a sub-woofer in the car then get the poverty pack and put in your own stereo..

I didnt relaise that you got a non colour screen if you didnt option premo sound!! :) I just thought all XR's came with the colour screen!! LOL

With my new knowledge I certainly would tick the option again, my dealer only charged me $800 for the option, a bargain if the colour screen is going to cost 2 grand later down the track.

Yeah I optioned up mine with the premium sound purely for the colour screen. The sound isn't great but nothing some desent aftermarket items can't fix.

Before I bought my FG xr6 turbo I was offered a great offer on a dash coloured one but the black and white screen made it look so plain. Loved the dash colour but cannot bring myself to buy it. The salesman obviously suggested aftermarket ICC and leather which would cost a whole heap on top of the car. In the end I found the car I wanted demo 6000kms, octane, manual, premium sound, leather, reverse sensors + camera, tech pack, optional airbags for $40k very happy with it. I can live without the leather but the colour screen just makes it look so much better. Oh by the way I think previous site sponsor ASL logistics supply change over ICC for around $1800? Quite expensive aftermarket.

For me the sheer size of the screen makes it either a good(premium) or bad(standard 2 colour) thing. The standard screen looks awful. If the standard screen was smaller it wouldn't look too bad, the premium screen is very impressive on the other hand.

Audio wise? What do you expect from a factory stereo? It's as good as any other I've heard. If you've spent big $$ on custom stereos in the past, you'll be disappointed, if not you'll be very satisfied with it. I've always considered loud music to be too much of a distraction anyway, this one is fine.

Get the Lux pack. The difference it makes having leather/colour screen is huge imo.
