Posted 04/05/10 11:59 PM Share Posted 04/05/10 11:59 PM all pollies may be bad but at least with howard he got australia in a posistion where we had some money in the bank as a nation. And it took what was it 10 years to do it after the last labour goverment sent us to the wall.In 2 years rudd and swan have sent us broke again what a farken joke they are.And to had to that qld has bligh in charge and between her and beattie before her they have done the same here.If the labour party were a private company they would be bankrupt and properly in jail for running an insolvent company.Rudd, swan, bligh get out now so we can get this great contry back on its feet.I can tell you now australia has not had the recsion yet it is only going to get woarse from now on.there are so many companies big and small hurting now not to mention home owners that are about to loose they homes, jobs and serciuty. We as a nation need to stop listerning to labours bullsh*t and stand up up and tell rudd to stay home and fix this mess he made or step down and let someone who knows what they are doing fix it.Ian

Posted 21/05/10 01:06 AM Share Posted 21/05/10 01:06 AM re the mining tax: Aussie miners , engineers and geologists have a very high reputation in the world, they draw top salaries both at home and overseas . The "foreign" companies pay their salaries in Australia....PAYG and GST from their salaries goes into the government coffers and the flow-on effect of this money is felt in many regional centres throughout Australia. The new tax will simply encourage mining companies to move to areas with equal sovereign risk, like the USSR or the Philippines, where the governments are also partial to changing the rules to get "their cut" of the profits. Australia will loose from this, technical expertise will leave the country to follow the work and Kevvie will have to look elsewhere to cover the shortfall and it may affect YOU directly next time.....Won't be me, I'll be off working in Vanuatu or similar and Kevvie won't be able to get MY money anymore. Here's to Kevie, He ain't bluehe's a commie though and throughwanted to be popular, but went the other waycan't F'n wait for election day....... These are 3 giants of the mining and resources companies operating here. What chance is there of these companies and others moving investment offshore where they will get a better ROI ?What does this mean to viability of existing and planned projects for the future ?What happens if the predicted slowdown in China's need for resources occurs ?What are the knock on effects of this tax in terms of cost pass ons to the broader community and future employment levelswithin this sector ?I am certainly no economist but Fark me this makes no sense to me
