just go to the first click, theres no need to fill it up anymore than that. whats the point! having the pump click 5 or so times makes you look like the biggest goose lol.

I used to always do 1 click, then I got what I thought was a dud pump and did a coupla clicks and then the fuel gauge went apehsit.

I knew it was impossible that "The Thing" was full, so took it to another petrol station about 8kms away. It would only take about another litre :(

I then ran the tank almost to empty. Ignoring the constant beeping from the stupid MF 'distance to empty'. Filled her up to the 1 click, and everything seems to be sweet again.

Lesson:Do not fill up past 1 click. If you don't believe me, do some searches.

Try filling with the nozzle turned 90 or 180 degrees - first click and she'll be full :stirthepot:

...second/third click and your shoes will be wet.

I agree

I have done 6-700 klm and beyond every week in a couple different cars over the last few years. I cram the bastards chock o block full of petrol to get maximum distance between fill ups. I`ve never had a problem.

Other can do as they see fit.
