Garret/Honeywell, will not be beaten (any time soon) value for money LOL, period... There product wins way more often than it looses the math is simple.

You will find that 95% of it's competitors use Garret/Honeywell parts etc. Large corporate deals eg; Ford, Caterpilla are secured with very low costing because of the corporate push, cost cutting etc. It is only then that a company may cut corners, what do you expect? Should they operate on a loss?

Let's not forget that if Honeywell didn't step in that there would be no Garret.

The problem with making things, is it generally requires 2 things. Parts and labour.

Generally most of the costs in engineered parts is labour. The USA Like Australia has OH&S, Unions and higher standard of living, resulting in increased wages.

When big corporates want to reduce costs they look at the labour bill for each item they make and say it can be done for 1/2 as much in a 3rd world country.

This is why most 1st world makers, move their factories offshore to China, Mexico, India, etc. While the initial quality will drop, it is only a matter of time before they learn and improve the quality and it is on par with the origional locally made product. What will happen eventually is these 3rd world countries will increase their labour rates and we will end up paying more anyway. The only problem is we will have the skilled workers out of work and they will have the employed skilled people. :beerchug:
