Unless you are loaded I dont see why you would buy new at that price.

Buy a low k second hand example and put the saving towards some Mods or if you want to keep it stock put

it towards something else like a Holiday or whatever takes your fancy.......

Having said that I dont have $54000 spare so letting someone else lose a shedload before I buy is a better option

although others may be ok with that.

Another option is spending the same sort of money as the new XR6T and getting an FG F6 with low ks like this.

Personally I think that makes more sense than a new XR6T for the same money...........

Clicky FG F6..............

Just remember their are heaps of cars for sale out there. They need the sale. You can buy a car anywhere anytime for the same price they are selling it for. Even if it's the cheapest one going. They depreciate like nothing else so todays bargin is tomorrows norm.

Don't let them pressure you. Don't fall for the we will only sell it for that price today shoite.

They need you and you really don't need them. Keep that attitude and you will always get a deal.

And yep demo demo demo. They have not changed a thing on the car since it came out. And the MKII is due in july.

Hi been reading a heap of post on this site and have found it really helpful. I have taken one for a test drive and loved it. So I have decided to get a 2010 xr6 turbo and have done a call around to a number of dealers in my area and they all seem to be giving me a similar price. I live near Townsville.

I have got the dealer in Townsville to a price of $54,000 with the following options:

tech pack

premium audio

headlight protectors

xr mats

tinting

scuff plates

Just wondering if this seems reasonable to you?

I am trading in my subaru forester which they have given a trade in of $8,500.

So far they've given you the BS price that not even they expect you to pay. Eventually they will claim there arm is twisted and take a few grand off in order to impress you. I'd be offering 48k and watch them play screaming poor but even then there is still room to move. Someone on here sells these things or use to and eventually he'll post something.

I.B.

Another option to consider in bringing the price down, go into Expensive Daewoo and get the best price you can on an SS. I can almost bet you'd get quoted less than 54k for a similar spec SS. Go back to Ford and use it as another bargaining tool. The Late model camira is a newer model also... use this to your advantage(just don't buy the piece of :icon_ford:) .

 I just went down a similar path and was quoted around $56K for a 2010 plated turbo with luxury pack, towbar, auto, window tint, tech pack etc and for $3k etc I ended up a 2009 FG F6 with 9000km on the clock.

Just checked Carsales, and you can get a 2009 plate with very low klms for around $42K drive away. Some of these will have tech pack. I wouldn't worry about the "premium sound" as it is not that premium, and you can get tint, mats and scuff plates later. To be honest, you could probably even get those thrown in for the $42K.

Some are in Brisbane too - a couple with less than 100klms for less than $42K driveaway.

Do the deal over the phone, fly down and drive back. Sell your Forester later privately. Worst case, sell it for trade value.

$54K is way too much and you will lose the better part of $10K driving it out the door. Think of re-sale in just a few years time - the better you buy now, the more flexible yo can afford to be down the track.

Just as an example, I bought my Audi TT at 7 months old for an amount substantially under new car price. I have had it for 12 months now and if I decide to sell it I could list it at the cheapest 2008 Audi TT in the country by almost $5K (and half the klms of those $5K more expensive ones) and still be happy with the price. I would even go further and still be happy with the price, but only because I bought well. There is a guy trying to sell his now with slightly lower klms than mine, xenon lights and reverse sensors as the only options, same year for $20K more than what I would expect for mine. He obviously paid too much when he bought - DON'T make the same mistake.

Shop around - Carsales lists 147 2009+ XR6 Turbo sedans with Auto trans. That's 147 cars all competing for the same buyer.

Cheers

Dan

Such a sensible post gu4800. Unfortunately human beings are emotional creatures who don't want something as significant as an expensive new car, that has been 'used' by someone else. Having a car built just for you gives some of us different feeling, a very satisfying feeling. This comes at a BIG cost of course. In this case the bloke could save himself 10k-14k by buying a second hand XR6T with probably < 20,000... so only just run in.

Alternatively:

(http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8376126&__sid=119E2F9F9061&__Qpb=true&Cr=12&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294965879%204294954501&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=104&silo=1011)

This is a second hand stock optioned up FG F6 with 18,000klms for 54k???? I know what I'd spend the 50k+ on if it was me. Hello F6! :buttonit:

Personally I get the staff discount, which means I buy new. If not, I wouldn't even consider buying new.
