T's do drop rods as this is the weak point in an engine that has so much potential. The safe limit when tuned well is around the 330 rwkw's. It also depends on how early the power is made.It has been talked about a number of times but it is torque that dose the damage,eg if you try and make 330 at 3000rpm your going to have trouble as the torque is very high if you make the same power at 6000 you will be quite safe

Agreed. Just goes to show I'm not that argumentative :spoton:

I am not sure weather you sutty consider me one of the 5 or more but I can tell you now that my motor did not blow up because of the tune as such. I also might add I did 117,000 km one this motor. at one stage with a waste gate fault that boosted it to 23 psi but the tune was set up so that if it over boosted it would pull all the timing out so it made less power.

Yes it was to do with to much power but we all know there is a limit to how much power a standard motor will take some take more than others.

I put a rod out of the block and had 5 more bent.

I know of one that I have rebiult for the brat running a mild 250 rwkw tune that had 4 bent rods but did not but them out the side.

I know of another that put a rod out at over 350 rwkw's he knew it would happen and was prepared for it.

Another was jeff[not dboss] but he was pushing the limits of every thing and had nos and car was not running right on nos.

Out of the ones I mentioned there are three different tuners involved.

One of those using another tuners software but not trianed in using it.

So Ian what caused your dilemma? Do you feel it had nothing to do with the tune and was just a case of “time being up” after a hard life for your engine?

Hard life from have to much power running on the standard conrods.

I can say from the ones I have seen there will be some out there that are running around that would have conrods that are not in the same condition as they came from factory.

You can run for some time on a bent conrod or 2 but it will break at some time.

I wouldn't run one build by someone I'm not 100% sure about. With the amount of comment made about their noise(piston slap etc), and the bad luck I've known people to have with their engines, I'd be better of building one myself if I ever needed to upgrade.

I certainly fear for mine. I know my car's on the edge and if it goes "pop" it'll be my own fault.
