hmmmm... I know of 2 that have had this happen in QLD... both from different tuners though. 1 guy is a regular on this site and the other has not been seen for a long time now.

at least 5???

Wow, are they mail order tunes or done by a local in Qld?

I agree with strengthening an engine to cope with the extra power, but have yet to be convinced the factory stuff is 'weak'. For example, I've two T's tuned with Nizpro kits running 350rwkw with stock engines (apart from upgraded valve springs) that have the arse driven out of them. Both owners understand that the next level of power requires an upgraded set of rods only, so are happy to stay at that power level.

I'd draw the limit of the F6 engine at 380-400rwkw, and personally cannot see the point of going more. For me, it's a street car, not a race car, and I would be embarrased to parade a car with huge rwkw figures but not manage to run a decent time. I've seen a couple of big hp GENIII Commodores featured in Perth Street Cars with over 600rwhp run measly 12's down the drags, and have had their arse handed to them with cars running 380-400rwhp.

I think Turbotom makes some valid points.

A little bit of track but, a few guys have talked about doing the oil pump gear when doing their rods. At what sort of power level should you be thinking of doing this mod and whats a set of gears cost to buy??

Local QLD tunes from 3 seperate tuners. 1 each from 2 tuners and the other 3 from a single tuner.

2 of these cases have pics posted on this site.

Another is a forum member that has chosen not to disclose his woes.

It's not my place to let the cat out of the bag - so to speak.

I say at least 5 as these are just the cars that I know of and I seriously doubt I would know of all the cars in QLD that this has happened to.

In general what was the cause, to much power, to lean?

If we can find what caused the problem, it may help find what power these things can run.

T's do drop rods as this is the weak point in an engine that has so much potential. The safe limit when tuned well is around the 330 rwkw's. It also depends on how early the power is made.It has been talked about a number of times but it is torque that dose the damage,eg if you try and make 330 at 3000rpm your going to have trouble as the torque is very high if you make the same power at 6000 you will be quite safe
