Hi,

Will be buying a new short engine and the choice is 600 or 900.

I guess projected output would be 500 rwkw but there's always a chance for more, though unlikely as the ZF may not like being run at that level.

Any reason not to buy the 600?

Also how noisy are they? Have heard one from a couple of years ago that waslike a bucket of nails even when warmed up.

I know they are never going to be silent.

I believe Atomic rate they're motors at 660 & 990 kw - this is flywheel kw AFAIK...

They're also meant to be alot quieter now as they have modified the gudgeon pins between the piston & connecting rod as well as changing the piston design over time as these were noisy as f*ck on earlier motors*

This was also a concern of mine when shopping around for a strong Built Motor. The motor(s) you mention are not noisey, their older one's are.

When asking this question to my Engine Builder his reply was "If their noisey at all they don't know what their doing" I found heaps of options out there !!. Engine Builders down South with FG F6 Spec. Motors for trade with your stuffed one for around 6K and XR6T Motors for 3.5, Using Good Bits/Parts.

just wondering if any one I running any thing atomic in their cars, and what they think off it. as I am looking into doing the bottom end in my ba xrt and wasn't sure if I should buy a complete short motor of them or just buy the parts and install them myself. im after about the 500rwkw mark.

if you use the search function you will see alot of 450+rwkw cars on here are all using atomic motors. Afew big build ~700+rwkw builds going around are also on atomic. The gtech boys who run 9's in their BAs also run atomic motors.

mate my car is currently at atomic so I cant comment on their work yet, but their customer service is I <3 Bananas top notch, im sure the work will be just as awsome, cant wait to get my car back

Hi.

I have an atomic built engine. It weeps oil, and I'm in tassie so I'm not about to rip it out and send it back.

There was some logistic issues but Brad, (their customer service front man) was extremely helpful so at least they made every effort after the cock up. As for the engine itself... Seems OK. (I have the 698KW spec).

Brad at Atomic has been around a long time fella's, way before the T's came out, he know's his sh*t and provides afordable & well engineered products from top to bottom on these engines..

Brand new engines from factory have been known to leek oil LOL, this is more common than poeple think and a very easy fix..

Atomic solutions are at the top of their game...

Agreed, I've been running his bottom end re-build kit for over 40,000k's and its still going strong - Brad is not only the customer service guy, he's also the engineer and designer for the products.
