Hey Guys,

Would finding these behind your car after its practically turned in to a speeding fire ball be classed as catastrophic? I'm sure they're not meant to be sitting on the road like that......

She seems to still run fine..... NOT

It was making about 290rwkws.......

Ignore the rust, its just from the laundry sink.

From the photo's this looks like it broke the rod bolt first as what is left of the rod beam looks fairly straight. The big end is also spread another sign of bolt failure not rod failure.

How many kms has the engine done ?and how many rpm do you rev it too?

It was pushing around the 290rwkw mark....

it had 50,000 kms on it.....

I usually only go to ( or did go to hehe) about 5000, 5500.

I had a comp test done a little while ago and it was losing a little compression on the number 1 cylinder, so I was saving for the rebuild.... If I hadnt of got the comp test I wouldnt of known any better when it went band and I would be a lot more pi$$ed off.....

My 2 failures have been rod bolts not the rod itself and both made as big a mess if not bigger than that.

:stupid: bugger. So from all this, I'm gathering its not as safe to run 300rwkw as we all once thought it was :stupid:

for the guys in the know, is there anything that we can do to reduce the chance of a failure?? are there any cheap options out there that might help reduce any problems? Other then returning the car to stock :kissmy: I can't drive it stock after having it this way...

will a comp test help a possible early diagnosis of any pending problems??

If new rods are needed, is that all that needs to be changed?? I'm getting worried now :spoton: whats the cost of rods?? I got a mate who can do all the labour.

I'm guessing if its gonna go, its gonna go regardless if I've returned it to stock now or not
