I think Ian may have some usefull feedback on this as well. How's your new motor going??

I rebiult mine myself using new ford block, atomic rods,cp forged pistons.

Yes it is a little noisy when cold and some times hot and yes we may have been able to close the piston bore clearence up a bit to help this but.

And this is the big but at what expense further down the track could a tighter clearance on forged piston cause damage if the motor gets a little to hot.

Maybe why take this risk.

Set the piston to bore clearance to the piston manufactures settings and be happy knowing that it should be safe.

As for just putting rods and using the old pistons if you are doing something do it right and do it once.

You can run for some time on a bent conrod or 2 but it will break at some time.

Did you here that Saleen :stupid:

Don't worry jeff the last to motors I did have been xr8's with bent rods to so be careful.

Ian

the boss rods are tooth picks,

and the biggest risk is bringing the gass in to early,

not to bad in a auto, because the stall will stretch,

but I would be stalling it up above 2000rpm before hitting it.

but I am sure Con would have explained all that.

not knocking the gass Jeff, just it makes power easy, and can try and do it before the motor can except it that's all.

PS, I love the BOSS

Well I have put a rod out of the block at 20,000k and again at 70,000k, both stock bottom ends, does that make me 7 and 8 :spoton:

I have also had 5 auto rebuilds and 2 turbo rebuilds, my utes nickname is steve Austin.

We can rebuild it, we have the technology, to make it faster and more stonger than before. It's the 6 million dollar part that's scary :pinch:
