/\/\/\/\ That was a more interesting read. That I did not know. Nor is it really any of my business either.

IMO, that's good news for DLM customers, past, present and future.

I am seriously beginning to consider an 'Atomic' short motor, from Rapid Systems.

The factory BAII XR6T powerplant clicked over 247,000 Ks yesterday, and what has been on my mind for a while is that to drag any real power out of it [without a rebuild] is likely to be a disaster waiting to happen.

For just under $7K (exchange) the Atomic short motor (698GT-A) is a lot of peace of mind when I drop the right foot.

I would prefer to have mine rebuilt as I then don't have to go through whatever stuffing around is involved in changing engine number at ACT rego, but taking the car to Sydney and then having to go back and get it, after whatever period of time is needed to complete the engine rebuild, is a right royal pain as well. Although, I'd have to look at seeing if they would fit the exchange engine anyway, since I don't have anywhere to do the engine swap.

On the plus side (whether I do exchange or not) is that I can have the exhaust system done by Rapid Systems at the same time. The BAII head would remain, but with the valve springs and injectors upgraded, naturally. Perhaps in time I may look at cams and whatever else, but for the immediate future the priority would be bottom end (that and the fact that I have no intention of blowing an extra four or five grand to get the long motor option).

All this is after the wheels/tyres and brake upgrade is done, but I'm wondering if anybody on here has one of these engines, and if so, what are your thoughts on them?

The original target of 300rwkw goes out the window with a strong engine like this, as I would have the chance to shoot for much, much, more.....which is likely to happen.

I hadn't, no. In fact, I hadn't heard of them, but there is a car on the site owned by I guy I know, which is in thier favour because he doesn't use crap.

Where are they located? I couldn't see that on the site.

Kosij comment was directed at waiting for parts from rapid I think, as in cut out the middle man and go straight to atomic...although I like the spool kits myself.

That post was from another thread, and has since been merged here. I posted it to get some feedback inorder to give me options, which I now have. I'm also looking at DLM and Spool.....and may very well look at other builders too.
