Hey guys,

Wanting to rebuild my ba engine with an atomic phase 2 kit...

Just wondering will this improve the bottom end aswell for more

power or would I need a f6 bottom end ??

This is what I'm getting

• Cosworth F1 forged pistons with coated skirts, pressure fed gudgeon pins, piston crown cooling and nitro carburised steel turbo rings

• ACL Competition conrod and main bearings with jig drilled oil feeds

• H/Duty gudgeon pins and .063” wire locks

• Hi-temp silicon rear main oil seal

• Main cap support girdle/windage tray (in 998 GT-A kits only)

• Installation instructions

• Torque specifications list

that's not entirely true possum...

For the most part it is, the bottom end is for reliability, but with a bulletproof bottom end you are able to lean on the tune more in effect making more power...

Stylzee - you sound a touch confused...

If you are rebuilding your BA bottom end with Atomic products, all of the components listed in the Atomic Phase 1 details you have posted above are improvements to the bottom end. In effect, you will have a forged bottom end (that should be able to hold much more power than the F6 bottom end). It is one or the other (being atomic rebuild or F6 bottom end), they do not work hand in hand nor do you need both.

The complete phase 2 kit sounds like a good bit of gear though...

How much is it going to cost you?

Yes I agree but the actual parts in a bottom end dont really contribute to the gains, other than maybe different compression ratio pistons, increasing volumetric efficiency is where its at power wise, cams porting more boost etc etc.

You could make the same power on a ba bottom end as an atomic motor if itd hold together and you were willing to risk it. But it wouldnt be reliable hence the need for stronger parts.

Yeh, it probably got a little more confusing than it needed to be, sorry!

Quoted above is probably the only part you need to read to make your decision on whether you go with the F6 bottom end, or the Atomic rebuild kit.

End of the day, Atomic built bottom end will be able to take more punishment with higher power than the F6 bottom end will (with all the right supporting mods of course!).
