If you maintain you car like an aircraft it will run with the reliability of an aircraft.

If you maintain you your car like sewage it will run like sewage.

The BA's easily provide exceedingly refined driving and high performance dynamics for an indefinite period, provided, that they have been maintained and looked after as appropriate.

If the driveline has been flashed tuned to 1,000nm and has spent most of its time doing burnouts whilst using rubbish fluids, on inappropriate suspensions, wheels and tyres, well, all bets are off.

When you by a second hand car you buy,

(the original design) x (the original build quality) x ( the car's history)

Regards,

aa

Need to vent, my BA is making me hemorrhage money.

You would expect these issues on a brand new system, but most of these things have carried over from previous models. I can no longer afford to repair things on this car. I'm more likely to be buying an Aurion as my next car instead of the FG like I was planning.

At least the Aurion will last the distance and then someone will come along and raise the fun factor issue.

I would bet my left nut that my FG n/a will still be going strong long after the Aurion has warped it's heads and worn it's cams down to *beep*'s.

It flogs the crap out of them now around Mnt Cotton. And I bought mine for the same price as I could get on a SX6.

I know you guy's like them. Doc keeps singing their praises. He tried his best to talk me into one, but after two weeks with one. Nup. No style, no fun, no go, absolutely no handling and not much chance of getting it too for the same price as I did my Fraud.

And most importantly No resale and it's a Toyota ???. that's the only reason you bought one. Toyota, like Honda use to be that way. probably the only thing that will save the great Aussie 6.

OOOOOOOOOOOOh and Ford just got smashed again in the car sales stakes. A thousand or more crommydoors sold again. Go Ford marketing, Go ha ha

Door actuators? common problem, fixed in BFs.

Turbo cooked? Not using proper oils, or only changing oils at 15,000km while never cleaning the screen.

Power steering rack? You mention you do alot of peak hour driving, I assume at slow paces. Therefore low speed turning will increase stress on power steering parts causing a weak point to fail. Common in ANY car of age.

Honestly, some people belive that if they just drop their car off at Ford every 15000kms or so, the car will last forever. A car requires much more attention than most people care to give. Choosing correct oils, filters and even fuel is a start to a nice long life. Regular cleaning, parking undercover, driving gently til warm, replacing parts as they wear, it all helps.

I kept my old toyotacamry singing until 300,000kms without ever having any issues, I looked after that thing like it was a ferrari and it paid me back with reliability. Only reason I sold it was the power steering rack seal finally let go, so instead of spending $1000 on a new one, I sold the car for $3k and moved into my xr6T, the car I always weanted.

This weekend will be - chaning oil and filter (at 7,500kms since last, is only stock power) cleaning the ETM filter, new fuel filter, cleaing TB and intake p pipes, checking all connections, boost solenoid maintainence, wash and wax, interior detail, fixing slight rattle in dash. Then I move to our 12 year old corolla daily... a mile of servicing work to be done as well! All part of owning a car really.

those turbo oil screens should be removed completely !!! ive been driving 4 sooo long without mine. expensive AFTERMARKET turbo kits dont have anythin like this.
