did the black button actually break??? if so you need a new cable only.

But if the button came out and is still in one piece, well it most likely means that your fuse box where the button sits has broken and you will need to replace the whole unit!!

I just got mine replaced on monday.

If you have figured out how to get it back on, for future reference there is a little spring that under the bonnet next to the locking lever at the end of the cable. It should have a black plastic piece of hose over it, remove this spring and 'slightly' stretch it and refit. Doing this just takes that initial load off the lever arm where its at its weakest.

My cable came loose about 4years ago now and after I fitted it and stretched the spring a bit I haven't broken it or come loose since.

This info was from another forum member so thank him for that whoever he may be. :spoton:
