Maybe the sensor on the dash is busted. It is the little ball looking thing front centre of the dash between the air outlets for windscreen. I would guess that if it stopped working it would not activate the lights.

is your car a FG ?

If so there is an adjustment for the sensor, if it is a BF then the sensor would be stuffer

Hi all,

Have a slight problem,

the auto driving lights do not automatically turn on at night any more.

Ive just noticed this the other day.

Any ideas?

just to clarify, headlights or driving lights? you can get your foglights to come on automatically by turning the knob on the RH indicator stalk, that's also how you turn on the auto headlights.

It is not necessarily your sensor, although this can play a role.

The automatic headlights didn't work in my BF II for some time, until NONE of the driving lights would work whatsoever.

The "combo switch" was replaced, I believe this is Fraud Service speak for the indicator stalk, or a component inside that stalk. Once this was changed, the lights operated perfectly (including the auto lights you are asking about).

Sounds about right, replace the sensor after the auto lights stopped working and that did not fix the problem, so more than likely it was the switch gear. Not worth fixing at the replacement price of the switch.

The auto headlights stopped working in my '07 Territory too and I got quoted $350 to replace the combo switch (warranty lapsed by 3 months, typical).

I decided to have a look at the combo switch and found that a light grey wire at the base of the indicator stalk has come off. When you pull all the covers off you'll see that the wires are pretty tight when the stalk is moved up and down, so I'm assuming that this tension is what caused the wire to break off.

I haven't bothered to fix this yet but nothing a bit of wire and solder won't fix.

Hope this helps.
