Wacky do,

finally we can again hold our heads up & not be seen as some weak opposition to our Expensive Daewoo brethren.

We've always been able to hold our heads up, even if sales were behind. Remember that Ford invented the things we take for granted on cars. The one piece V8 engine, the first self starting else, rear view mirrors, automatic windscreen wipers, and of course.... the car itself. You must remember what a boil on the arse of Ford the AU was. It drove away people in the thousands. The BA Falcon, whilst we all love it and I do not want to sound quaint here, is no different from when the EF/EL came in. The only real difference is what you get for nothing. The ammount of options on the BA Falcon that come standard is legendary, so it's not like people with thin wallet's are left uttering, "well, It's only ......... because I couldn't afford the ..........". This can be seen with the standard BA Falcon. As stated by Ford, it is a car not an excuse. People don't buy a standard BA for the reason of "well, we couldn't afford an XR so we went the budget model". The options found as standard blow the Commonwhore away before you even start talking add-on options. When the EF came out people went crazy, and had to have it.

Success of sales, I belive could also be attributed to the success on the race track :pinch: . How? you ask. Well, there's a pattern here. Glenn Seton got 300+km/hr on conrod with his EF XR8, and people couldn't sit still in their seat. The lead he had at Bathurst was extreme, only bad luck robbed him of victory. Now Marcos is doing similar with his BA. Consistant lap times at QLD Raceway, 1.11's. He cought up 12 seconds in no time. There is a pattern here. It only takes some good races, and a crappy model of Falcon to make a new one look good. (AU). :auto:

Always keep your head up, if you stare at the ground, there you will end up. GOOD JOB FORD

Yes indeedy, but ask yourself this my turbocharged little friend....

IF! Expensive Daewoo can sell cars at that price, a huge Mother#$@#$@#$@#$ drop!!! Why was it charging it's customers like a wounded bull before?? Why has it brought out the Series 2 so soon and shot all resale value of series one to hell.?? If you were a series one owner and had just bought it for $53,000 on road, and you saw a person buy one 2 days later for $10,000, (roughly 20% less!!!). Would you not be a tadd bit annoyed? Would you not have your hand out asking for a rebate? I sure as god made little green apples would be parking the thing back in their yard and leaving it there until they pay me the rebate. Whilst this may seem bad at the individual level, think of people who bought entire fleets of commonwhores now only to find they could have got a free car for every 4 purchased.!!!

Well done Ford, not only does your car keep it's value like no other of the year, but it also is of much better quality, no wonder Wheels car of the year!!

This is exactly why a Series 2 type of upgrade is a BAD,BAD,BAD move....

Not only have GM done it, Ford have also done it.

Both manufacturers have this knack of killing the resale of their product by continually changing/upgrading their main model every 18 months or so.

Do BMW do it? Mercedes? No. You can buy a 5 or 6 year old BMW that still is the same shape as the current one. People do this as a method of entry into a car that looks like a current model. Therefore the value remains consistent throughout the model range.

The biggest mistake Ford could do is release a BA Series 2 or change the shape of the current car (front/rear) within the next 12 mths. The current BA looks great. It should stay exactly the same (in appearance) for at least 5 to 7 years with the only upgrades to take place in features, EBD driving aids/dynamics, refinement of engines (including power/torque upgrades) and interior trim.

After the sales disaster that was the AU, Ford need to protect their current customers and future fleet/private customers. Massive discounting (factory bonuses) of the BA could remind a fleet vehicle manager of the bum faling out of the AU resale and go for something a bit more consistent such as the Commodore.

Instead of using factory bonuses to move the XT Falcon (as an example) they should leave the price as it is with the dealer margin and sell a Sport edition at no extra cost such as:

XT Falcon GS - 6cyl Twin cam, manual/auto NCO, XR suspension, 17 inch wheels, charcoal interior with leather wrap steering wheel and Limited Slip diff

XT Falcon GS - 5.4 V8 3valve, manual/auto NCO, XR suspension, 17 inch wheels, charcoal interior with leather wrap steering wheel, LSD and XR8 air cleaner assembly.

Exclusive GS badging (same font as the GS of the '70's) and available in these colours; Red, White, Black, Blue

I think they would race out the door and give Ford a worthy price/feature competitor to the VY S Pack, VY SV8.

It would be a big reminder as well that the classic BA shape is very smooth and clean as well as aggressive.

The trouble is, RJV dealers won;t do it because they're all Yes Men and the franchisee's that could do it won't get the support from Ford

.....if only they had some people from the GM Marketing division...

............a recurring theme isn't it. Just imagine the numbers that would be sold if they were pushed properly instead of the pathetic effort that is been put up now <_<

Yes, marketing is at the heart of the BA Falcon's problems. I love the BA Falcon, but unless Ford do something soon, The General will gain the upperhand very quickly, with pricedrops like the current, Ford is gonna have to show cause for the price of the BA Falcon. They can't drop the price of them, because then you have what the series 1 Commonwhore models have happening. So as punky said, start putting in more options, giving more bang for our buck.
