Got an Escort 8500 here. A large percentage of reviews I read rated it the best. Keep in mind too that the top of the line Bel isn't too far behind in capability but the margin is still there. The price was also heaps better. Can't complain for $400AUD new in the trademark Escort case. :)

At the end of the day though, if you aren't speeding you won't get caught will you? It's like saying "watch out for speed cameras"... it doesnt matter if you're not speeding.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I hope there is one the works well

Sorry XXXR6T that's crud .... whether its 10k over or 10k under the limit if a cop pull you over and makes some cock and bull story about how he was measuring you with his speedo or he thinks you were doing a certain limit because you drive a XR6T and it looks sweet he will get his way... cops above the laws ALWAYS... How many cruises have I been on 100 on a freeway and watch a traffic operations patrol car brink past at least 20kmh over the limit.

You NEED to know where theses D*ckH*ads are at ALL times... I turn off at the next street or pretend to pull over to answer my phone the SECOND I see a cop in my close visinity, and am ALWAYS scanning ahead religiously to see it coming ...

just read the post that was made in relation to fixed red light cameras operating in victoria.

just wanting to know if anyone on here has a radar detector or has had experiences with them. or if anyone knows where they can be purchased from.

if not wanting to post here then can PM me.

I know radar detectors are illegal but im also wanting to know what people generally think about them.

Hi xr6boy,

Here is a link that is available in the public domain:

http://www.policespeedcameras.info/

I've read on the forum at the above link that some ex-police officers have said (and I don't know if they really are ex-police officers) that they can allegedly detect radar detectors before a user knows they've been pinged. And by the time a user knows they are being pinged, they allege, it's too late anyway. But I don't know for real, because I don't have one and I've never used one.

I can vouch for this, I've seen cops rip the interior out of a car because they detected a radar-dectector (with a radar detector detector, no less!). They found it too.

I Might have one (keeping in mind they are illegal here in Vic)

They work just fine with all types of radar used here, except fixed speed and red light cameras (these use sensors under the road)

I had a post a while ago about detector detectors and no-one could give me a definitive answer as to whether or not detector detectors are used any more.
