Just remember if it’s hard wired when the ignition is on the detector is on and you might not want it to squawk when a copper is standing at your window so by all means hard wire it but fit a switch to isolate it if and when required. :crybaby:

got some of the interior off but couldn't get the triangle plastic bit at the top of!!

its the bit were the f6 pod goes so I know it must come off somehow :spoton:

I was also told that I cannot remove the radio because it has a shock sensor and will stop working. anyone know is this is correct??

cheers

Yeap, gotta be carefull with the radio. A friend had an accident where they removed the entire dash, but didn't check to see if it worked after putting it all back together. A radio technician was called out to remove the radio/cd, retrieve the CD's and then put it back into the car and reset it.

Hey XR06T

A little off topic but how much is the detector itself and what do they actually pick up? Camera, radar, on car radar :spoton:

Thanks,

paid 500 down from 700~..

picks up cop cars from ages away, flat straight road ~3Ks

radars usually around 500-600m, enough time to slow

because the police have to get 3 readings with the lasers this takes around 3 secs, and the detector tells you the instant he locks on.

I've never got a ticket since I bought it so I dont think you can go wrong :spoton:

never been speeding when shot with laser so not sure what the go is with how they will judge your speed.

hope this helps!

xr06t,

You can get that panel off by wrapping a cloth around a scredriver and prying a corner up, then lift. It has 2 or 3 clips. It can feel stiff, but keep lifting.

With the power source for the RD, you can usually buy a power plug to fit the unit. Then just get some speaker cable and make your own hard wired cable. Finding power up there can be hard, you may be best to run the power from the mobile phone plug behind the fusebox as this will give you ignition on power.

Thanks Bass,

that's what I wanted to know, its the cop cars driving towards you that get ya, can normally pick the hiding spots on the sides of the roads!

Well most of the time :spoton:

cheers zap

was just out havin a look an the connection into the detector has 4 wires, but when I pulled the cigarette lighter adaptor off the other end there was only 2 wires..

what would the other two be for??

with that mobile phone adaptor do you mean the blue one behing the fuse panel? if so do you have a diagram of which is power / ground in that plug??

hope you can understand what I mean!!

The other 2 wires could be for anything, but if it has a standard type power plug, you should be fine. Cutting the ciggy power cord is a good suggestion, but it will mean you cannot move it to another car easily.

As for the pinout on the mobile plug, have a search, I did mine a year ago so I cannot remember, but I know there is the ingitio power/ always on power / radio mute / speaker input. If you have a test light it would only take a minute to find the power.
