I dont want to encourage you guys to go any faster and I am not sure if this is a good deal but from my shopping around I think it is!!! If not let me know.

I can organise some Bel Radar Dectors RX65 the Pro units here are the specs

http://www.beltronicspro.com/rx65.html

If I can organise 10 people I can get them for $550 PP (Unless your in Perth) so I was thinking $555 and 5 bucks to be donated to the forum.

Not sure about the law around AUS but we are allowed them in WA.

Anyone know how much it would cost to ship? If it would fit in an express post bag that's like 10 bucks max!

Not sure if this post is in the correct area.. was gonna put it in "The Market" but only looking at interest at the moment.

So let me know if anyone is keen and see if we can get some dectors for everyone.. If I get more than 10 I might be able to get it even cheaper. So ask your mates :pinch:

I think Radar Detectors are illegal in most if not all states other than WA. Not sure how many cops still use radar/laser these days, mostly speed cameras I believe, dunno if RDs pick them up.

Mobile radar, LIDAR and radar speed cameras are still being used in NSW. Also the VIC speed cameras are also Radar (Ka I think).

The only problem is that a portable unit sticks out, better to get a consealed unit.

not trying to stir the pot but these guys http://www.geodetic.com.au/category705_1.htm

seem to have it for the same price as your group buy  :spoton:

yu think it would be a little cheaper????

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

On that site the RX65 is $693

so the price I got you get the RX65 Pro one not the XR650 for the same price...

Once I get interest/numbers I will go to him and talk turkey.

true but they are expensive for what you get! + if you place it on your sun visor and hard wire them, with the lighting on dark they are very hard to see!

I did get a fine for the one I currently have a little while ago.. cop was being the big man! 100 bucks and 3 points.. I was very angry... sent them a letter and told them how they are not illegal in the state of WA and they cleared the fine! :spoton:

I have a Bel 990 international at the moment.. and it pics up all the cameras no trouble.. Ku Band are usually the cameras. We dont have fixed cameras apart from red lights here in WA.. they are always on the move. :spoton:

Interested for NSW.

Illegal in NSW and (from the experience of a mate) you will if found (a) have the item confiscated on the spot, get a fine, end up in court. Big hassle.

He was STUPID as he had it in PLAIN VIEW and was pulled over for an unrelated issue until Mr Policeman said "Oi! Whadayaweaveere!". :fool:

I've read a lot about radar detector-detectors and believe they are in most/all states (except WA of course). I go with some of what's said about these detector-detectors, especially the incredible difficulty of actually determining which car that just went by had the detector in it, and detector-detectors would naturally be prone to heaps of false alarms. Having a radio background it all makes sense. I doubt they are very effective despite the HUGE sums of taxpayer money spent on them. :fool:

So I guess given the above, you just hide it REAL well, and switch off whenever possible with a remote switch.

MY QUESTIONS:

1) Has anyone actually heard of anyone being caught by these radar detector detectors?

2) How do the radar detectors perform with laser speed detection (they have this capability - most anyway), any real life stories?

TIA.
