All you have to do is bring the device, it's official callibration certificate show how you were trained to calibrate the device as well as what it was callibrated against showing daily checks against a known distance and how this distance was acheived as well as it's monthly recallibration in the form of a certificate which is listed as an official method under the act. Oh and permission from google earth to use there protected information for financial gain which is a breach of their copyright. After you have done that bring it all into court get tested before a magistrate under cross examination and you should be able to get off 50% of the time. Should only cost a couple of grand at a time, oh and I forgot to mention to even be able to expertly tender the calculations you will have to show by recognised qualifications how you are an expert and how this has been tested. Good luck, keep the bastards honest.

Sly is right, you cannot use GPS as a form of defence.

I am sure we will see these devices fitted as standard equipment by the governments, so they can automaticly book us when we speed.

The only chance you have to get off speeding, is if the cops did not follow procedure or you can proove that the equipment was not calibrated.

With speeding you are guilty and have bugger all chance of proving your innocence. Speeding makes too much money for the government for us "criminals" to contest the fines. :freak:

Michael Simotas's lawyer, Dennis Miralis, went further. The first case in NSW where GPS has been admissible in evidence to contest the accuracy of police radar would not be the last, he said.

This lawyer, has had a number of succesful results in recent years specific to traffic legislation in NSW. Someone in another topic a few weeks backs asked about a good traffic lawyer in Sydney and this bloke is by far one of the best in NSW. If I was ever pinged for a dodgy one than I'd engage this bloke to contest it and not waste a cent on anyone else.

Some might remember the RTA a few years back losing one, when they could not prove the photo taken of the speeding vehicle had not been tampered with and this was another of this bloke's wins.

Guys, Just had the pleasure of being knocked off for speeding and my points are now as thin as a boarding school scrape of butter! What is the go with the detectors nowadays ? I had one years ago when I had the Sandman Panelvan and it saved my neck a few times, I can tell you. Is there any that can be recommended to this law abiding citizen ! LOL Otherwise, the new purchase of my XR6T will be a waste and very short lived!

Here's a better idea, take it onboard if you wish.....

Because you're obviously not the most law abiding citizen, instead of relying on a illegal device to tell you where the police are, why dont you do what the majority of us do, and stick to the speed limit?

Common sense I know, but worth a shot?

Try This and it will answer your questions. I have one and its the best thing I ever bought!!!

that's going to do nothing but get ppl some free accomodation.

All radar detectors are obsolete with the advent of lidar (laser) and there is also no technology that can beat digital check speeds and speed estimations.

And as your low on points having a radar detectr will only cost you 9 big ones and about $1500.

I beg to differ. I had a unit for quite a few years that detected laser, k and ka. It was very effective and saved my license quite a few times.

A radar detector will not save you in every circumstance and you need to drive defensively to assist in it's operation and help prevent getting booked. Most of the time you are relying on the vehicles in front of you being speed checked first. I think they are an effective peice of kit but it isn't going to save you if you drive around like a maniac exceeding the speed limit by 30 or 40 klm.
