pop isn't used in WA afaik,

As for not having it turned on until needed.... hehe, the amount of cops that leave there K band on whilst standing on the roadside with there laser is amazing..

As a general rule, I don't use my detector to speed. It's there to stop me from getting pinged on the off chance I don't site a multinova. I have only ever been picked up for a max of ~11 km over the limit, 20 at the most ( school zone and didn't know -> 60 in a 40 .. ) I seem to get pinged when the car wanders over the limit, and *FLASH*

Detector detectors can only find a unit when it's switched on, so fit a switch to short out the power supply ( fuse ) , all done.

Jammer, use at your own peril.

From my experience and info from many hwp officers is there are only 3 working RDD's in NSW, they do not use them in cities as they false as much as normal radars (every auto door in a servo) and they have no way of knowing which car has the device as they can be detected up to 300m and have no means of direction.

If you are alone on a highway, you are at risk of being detected, if they have a RDD. The other way I have heard of people being caught is for the cops to turn their radar on while behind you and watch you slam on the brakes.

I know several people who use them and have done for 20 years without any issues.

This is the RDD they use in NSW:

As for searching of cars, cops cannot detain you for more than 15 minutes and cannot pull anything or undo anything off the car.

They also have no law in which to inpound the car for a RD offence as it is not inditable only a summary offence under the traffic act, not crimes act.

Laser jammers are legal due to the law not keeping up with technology. They also work VERY WELL against our very antiquated Kustom pro 3 lasers.

The main thing I have noticed is the lack of hwp cops on the NSW roads. It seems like they do not raise enough money to justify their existance in any numbers, or the government would have more of them.

Speed Scamers seem to be more effective in the road toll reduction :laughing:

Recently I made three trips to the snow and every time I went I got fcuken booked!

The first time I was done for 15 and under, I had the cruise control set to the speed limit, but forgot the car will over speed going down a hill.

I didn’t think I was going that fast, wasn’t pay attention because I was to busy talking to my mate about the trip and I haven’t been booked in years, so I just coped on the chin.

The second time I was traveling through the national park doing 80kms and a cop coming around the bend pulled me over and said I got you doing 104 km.

I argued with him saying how could this be accurate when both vehicles were coming around a bends, you haven’t got me a straight section of road?

Of course he didn’t care saying take it to court.

The third time my girl friend was with me and again had the cruise control set to 100kms, being so paranoid about getting done again, I asked here to confirm what speed I was doing and within seconds the cops came past with the lights on, pulled me over for doing 124km in 100km zone!

I had me Speedo check by a certified calibrator and is spot on!

The instrument place that calibrated my car told me, the radars are only as good as the operator and there are some many variables that can screw them up.

There is no way the radars are accurate!

So how the hell can we protect our selves from these dodgy radars, when the cops just turn around and say they are 100%?

If this happens again my license is gone. :fool::gooff:

I’m interested to see if this has happened to any one else and what they did about it?

Cheers

I will be taking it to court, but my solicitor told me I don’t have much of a change.

A statement from your girl friend won’t mean much, because she is your girl friend and of curse she will say that! And booked three times doesn’t help!

P.S booking some1 for slightly speeding down a hill is called entrapement

No doubt someone useful and knowledgable and actually useful like Sly will know, but I'm pretty sure Entrapment is illegal in the United States but not here.

Even if it was, I'm sure that being pinged going down a hill due to inattention while driving doesn't come under that definition.

Copper is right, take it too court. Plead for extention of payment if nothing else.

Lumpy :fool:

Ask the question, were they Radars or Lydars. As a friend of a friend was booked for speeding and asked that simple question.

The police officer said lydar but on the paper work it stated radar. The matter is still on going and it's been over two years.

Hi Micksta,

I'm in the same sinking boat.

I got booked twice by the same cop, same car over 4 weeks for exactly the same speed 75km in a 60k zone, both 60k zones were once 80km zones one up a hill one down a hill, I was in ex chaser still with speedo check stickers still visable. my kids were with me & like there mother love to quote the digital speedo reading. They both said it was on 65km/ph.

The officer took great pride in letting me know it was 75km but would be booking me for under 15km which now in this sh*t hole state is the same amount of points as over 15km.

I also hadn't been booked for speeding for 7 or so years (got booked for turning left on red signal in Feb) which in my work that's about 1,400,000km of work related travel, so thinking O well I'll let it go, but 4 weeks later it happens again but on a double demerits Monday!

Now I have no points left & looking at loosing my house, buisness & my mind.

Since then I spoke to a excop mate who informed me of a trick they use it goes like so..

If working in a 60km zone get a lock from a 80km zone at 75km/ph so then you can still look at you radar getting a speed of oncoming vehciles, then for example someone is doing 65km/ph you pull them over tell them they are doing 75km/ph but being Mr Good Guy you will book them for under 15km instead of over 15km/ph, Driver says that can't be right I was doing 65km/ph, then they say have a look at the screen (that had been locked at 75km/ph earlier).

So it's court for me to try & save my lively hood with not much chance of winning.

I radars should have a time of lock on them to avoid this from happening.

Good luck with your attempt.

Muzza.
