project complete!!

I cut the 1 end off another regular phone cable and used that in place of the cigarette lighter adapter.

I did what zap recommended and went into the blue celluar mute plug thing behind the fuse box.. worked perfectly! but as f6 tornado said it is CONSTANTLY on, even with no key in ignition. unit has a power switch so I just have to remember to turn it off when I get out!

For those who may try this the red wire was +ve and green -ve. the other 2 wires did nothing..

THanks all for your helpeveryone, especially bdennis for his document!!

cheers guys

It sounds like you used the constant 12v in the phone plug and not the ACC switched wire. If you moved this it would turn on and off with the key...

paid 500 down from 700~..

picks up cop cars from ages away, flat straight road ~3Ks

radars usually around 500-600m, enough time to slow

because the police have to get 3 readings with the lasers this takes around 3 secs, and the detector tells you the instant he locks on.

I've never got a ticket since I bought it so I dont think you can go wrong :fool:

never been speeding when shot with laser so not sure what the go is with how they will judge your speed.

hope this helps!

I have the same one ,and beleve me you wont have a chance with the hand held lazers. As soon as they hit the trigger you dont even get time to blink and your speed has been clocked .

The ONLY protection against LIDAR is a jammer. Wait for a few months as there are some really great units about to be released like the Antilaser AL6 and the new smartdriver range.

thanks goobz, I'll try that!

I was also putting the cigarette lighter back together this morning and noticed it had a 2amp fuse..

does the circuit for the mobile phone have a 2amp fuse?

should I change the fuse for the phone plug or will there be other things running off the same fuse?

also wil the ignition plug hole in the phone plug be fused?

should I just add a fuse into the +ve wire?

cheers

I'm thinking of buying a Radar Detector (Escort Solo 2) From a workmate.

Now I understand that by living down here in Mexico I'm committing a heinous crime against society by owning one. :spoton:

Does anyone have any recent (last few years) knowledge of police using detector detectors?

I know years ago the Police were able to detect them.

The Solo 2 has VG2 which means when it detects a detector detector it turns it's self off.

Is this successfully in making them undetectable?

anyone sick of the word Detector yet? :spoton:

im just wondering how a detector detector works??

I thought all a radar detector did was recieve a signal.

how does the detector detector know when it is merely recieving a signal??

cheers :spoton:

if ppl werent sick of the word detector before they are now!! :spoton:

nah I think they actually output some frequency as well in order to scan ahead, while you are effectively out of the greed cameras range..

they are just about to try and ban them in WA now, love their work !!

maybe they should do a survey and see how many crashed vehicles have functioning detectors in them - it would have to be at least 50% for them to believe that detectors encourage speeding, which is most certainly NOT the case!!
